Need a job. And a scholarhsip.

For the scholarship: There is essentially no way I will be able to transfer to school I want to go to unless I get a scholarship. Its 40k a year and I have no money saved up anymore. This is not nearly as important as...

For the job: A close friend and her family have fallen on some very rough times. Both her parents are unemployed and due to already owing the IRS money and the fact that her moms job was under the table (only one she could get) they aren't getting unemployment. I'm not sure about her family, but my friend has lost 15 pounds in the past three weeks because they simply can't afford food. She's 5'3'' and weighs 90 pounds. This is obviously not healthy and she needs to eat but already works as much as she can while taking 21 credits of double major pre-law and psychology and most of that money goes straight to gas to get to school and back. She also needs to get her car fixed as she currenty is driving home at night with only one headlight. I gave her my debit card to buy food and gas but there's only around 1k in my account and that won't last her very long so I need to get a job as soon as possible, which is something I've been trying to do since I moved home almost 2 months ago and have had no success.

I don't want to start a big discussion or anything, but I hope your friend has at least considered the possibility of postponing finishing her degrees until she is a bit more financially stable. Most of us college age people have access to a variety of loans in order to survive, but I would assume that her parents' credit standing probably doesn't allow that. It's really cool that you are willing to help her, and I hope you have success in that. But I also hope that she is able to find a solution for herself that doesn't compromise her future plans but perhaps modifies them slightly. It doesn't matter what degree you have if you become sick from malnourishment. Whatever happens, I'm praying for you and for her.
