Those tournaments run on a monthly basis by the DiMaggios. I've never met them, but I had a conversation with Brad about those tournaments a while back and he knows them apparently. I've steered clear since it sounds like they have a private thing going, but hey, they might welcome new people. I'd probably contact them if you were interested in going to make sure it's okay with them though. Suffice to say, I highly doubt anyone on the boards will be attending.

I've emailed them twice, but I haven't heard anything.  Would they be upset if three new people showed up?

I'm sure they would love to have new people.  Ginger is always very hard to get a hold of because she has 6 kids and is very active in their church.

I hope you are able to easily find their church, the first time I went there it was a little hard to find and when I got there nobody else was there yet.  It looks more like a farm than a church grounds.
May you prosper greatly!

nice....well we're coming from Lancaster, Pa.  It's about an hour and a half drive.  It's the last tournament I'll be able to go to this season probably.  My wife will be very pregnant by the time states comes around.  So, I think this is it.

Honestly I was planing on going with a friend, its only a 1/2 hour from me.

I saw that it's an open so I hope I'm not stepping on anybody's toes if I show up.

How was the tournament, if either of you ended up going? It's only a 45 minute drive from my college, so I was looking at possibly attending next semester, but never got around to talking to them about it. Would it be the kind of environment where me showing up with a starter deck and helping teach the more complicated aspects of the game (should they need it) be welcome, or are they happy doing their own thing?

I went, (and won) but the environment was very friendly. There are enough older players that they know most of the game. There were about 12-15 plyers and about half were 14 years of age and up. So it is a bit of a younger group but again, they knew how to play. They were very inviting and excited to see new players. Overall I wouldn't say there a competitive play group. If you would end up coming they would be very happy to see  you.

You won't need to bring starter decks. I brought Charles and a 14 year old girl that had never played before, the host heard she wasn't playing before the tournament started and said "Oh! Well the best way to learn is to play!" she grabed a starter deck and handed it to her and had her play in the multi catigorie with two others that were younger and learning the game

They haven't (as a play group) gathered cards past Diciples. Many players had cards from Diciples and Txp and the Tins, but the host wasn't supplying them.

If I went back with my main deck I would be extreamly likely to win again (that is if you don't show up ;)) I have a side deck that I have been messing with anyways so I'm thinking about useing that instead.

They host the tournament on the 1st Thursday of every month. If you plan on going go ahead and message me on hear and I'll be able to contact the host for you. (they are in the middle of a move between 2 houses and don't really have easy acess to the internet) the only thing she really asked is that if we come back we let her know ahead of time because she had 6 people show up that she had never seen before. We were a little pressed on time.

As long as I don't have work I plan on going back. I'm sure they would be happy if you came too.

yep my brother in laws and I had a great time!  And as always, it was nice seeing you there Jerome! Too bad we weren't matched up (not like I would have won).  My brother in law, George was excited he came in second in T1 and my other brother in law, Ray, came in at 2nd in Multi.  I came in 4th. It was a good time!
