FLORIDA STATE TOURNAMENT

Friday June 10th and Saturday, June 11th

I still have not been able to secure a church for hosting, so the tournament will be held at my home:

17332 Woodcrest Way
Clermont, FL  34714

I am right near the intersection of Route 192 and US 27, eight miles from Disney World. You are welcome to swim in my unheated pool if you wish, and I have video games and board games available during free time.

We will be starting at 7:00pm on Friday and at 9:00am on Saturday, with deck checks beginning one hour before the start times. The current category offerings will be:

Type 1 2-Player
Type 1 Multiplayer
Type 2 2-Player
Teams
Booster Draft
Sealed Deck

The order of events is still to be determined, so please see the next post.

The tournament cost will be a one-time charge of $5 for all open categories. Booster Draft and Sealed Deck are an extra $10 each. Please bring extra money for food since this will be a two-day event.

This is Orlando, so there are many places to eat out. We can order pizza locally from Hungry Howie's. There is a Wendy's, McDonald's, KFC, and Taco Bell less than a mile from my house. If you are travelling far, overnight accomodations can be arranged. There are a plethora of hotels and vacation homes if you want privacy, but you are welcome to crash at my house if you don't mind a sleeper sofa (unless you are the first to call dibs on the extra Master Suite). ;D

PM or post if you have any questions or just to let me know you are coming.

I have scheduled the first categories to be played after 7pm on Friday night, which hopefully will help accomodate some out of town guests. The major categories will be held on Saturday.

Friday Night: Sealed Deck OR Type 2 2-player (run simultaneously)
Saturday Morning: Booster Draft
Saturday Afternoon: Type 1 2-player
Saturday Night: Type 1 Multiplayer OR Type 1 TEAMS (run simultaneously)

It looks like my friends and I will be coming (somewhere between 4 and 9 people), hopefully you have enough product/supply for everyone. I found some pretty cheap hotels in the area for only 35$!
We must be the change we want to see.

Jon, we will have to figure when & how we will car pool to Orlando.  My brother & both have fellowship after work on Fridays.  I typically don't get home till about 6:30-7:00 pm.  That's not including me cleaning up and changing either.

How long would you need to get here? We can hold off on Friday until 8pm before we begin, if that helps.

Hey YMT, Double question time:
A: Mind if My bro, Sis and I crash at your place?
B: $5 Includes all sealed categories?

A: I'm not quite sure how the sleeping arrangements are going to work out yet. The gang from Ft. Lauderdale would need a place to stay, and they might be bringing eight. Worst-case scenario is that I would come pick you guys up or drop you off (or both) as needed. If we were planning on pulling an all-night tournament, then we won't need sleeping arrangements anyway.   ;)

B: No. I copied and pasted from a previous tournament thread and I forgot to change that. I have edited it to the usual fees.

@FTL: My class gets out at 2:50pm, and I just might be willing to drive part of the FTL crew up.

@Tim: Is there anything that you could be helped with if I decided to drive some people up right after my class ends?  (i.e. would that be convenient or inconvenient?  I don't know if anyone else would want to go up that early as of yet anyway).

Tim, a question that was brought up from our group. Are you accepting redemption cash toward entry fees? Btw, we're planning on staying at a hotel nearby.  We should be bringing 7 people.

Josh, Lerner will be meeting us in Orlando Saturday morning, he won't be driving up with us.

I will accept Redemption Cash for the $5 entry fee only. Sealed and Booster will have to be USD. If you guys want to bring your own G/H Starter Decks, then you can play Sealed for free. You can bring opened starters if you want; I will just do a deck check before the category begins. If you do this, just make sure you bring an equal share of G and H decks. We will roll dice to determine who gets which deck.

The same holds true for Booster Draft. If you bring your own sealed packs, then you can play the category for free. FYI, I do not have Disciples or TexP. The draft will be Prophets, Apostles, Patriarchs, Kings, Angel Wars, and Priests. I do not have enough blue packs to include, but I will try to pick some up before the tournament.

You can come whenever you are ready. If you come too early, you will be put on baby duty. My wife could use a break. Just realize that semiautomatic weapons do not double as pacifiers, regardless of the perceptions given by Vin Diesel movies.

Roge-o! Sounds like I may be hitching a ride with a fellow player, but I might still get there early.  Also, is Booster Draft for Regionals going to  be missing Disciples/Texp boosters as well?

I will have Disciples/TxP but i will have to charge an extra 5 dollars to use them.
This is the way Lackey gave it to me. All hail the power of Lackey!

Sounds great!  Booster draft is just a little bit more fun for me when those boosters are included.  I'll gladly pay extra!

Tim:

I have booked a hotel 5 miles from your place and I will be coming with an extra player. I plan to play in every event possible (too bad some events are playing simultaneously). I look forward to getting some state points :)

Tim, I wanted to get confetti for category winner photographs, would you mind us popping party poppers for photos for our webzine? It would make a little mess.  :-\

The confetti I think will make for good photos

Tim, I don't expect to get to their till maybe 9-9:30; you don't have to wait, unless if there's still a round or two to play I'd join with a 1st round bye.  It's not that big of an issue.  Andrew & I will just end up taking photos, videos and interview people.

You would have to clean it all up very thoroughly. I do not want my baby to find pieces of confetti on the rug later and try eating them.

Since I have not heard otherwise, the schedule on the second post of this thread is now official. The inside A/C unit was installed today. The outside unit will be installed tomorrow morning, so it looks like we will have A/C for the tournament.

Also, Booster Draft will not include blue packs, unless someone brings enough for everyone.

Would it be better to take those photos outside then?

The best place would be the garage, since that is an easier floor to clean.

Please pray about the A/C. They installed the inside and outside units and then tested them, only to find a major leak. They do not know where the leak is, and it may be a lot of work to find it.

I hope that Florida players are prepared for a very warm house. I have called around to the churches hoping they'll give us a break, but so far they are relentless in their abstination of Redemption.

God's timing is always perfect, so if it is His will that we will have A/C, then everything may still work out fine. However, this may also be His way of having us find another venue. We shall see soon enough.

*****OFFICIAL CHANGES TO FLORIDA STATE TOURNAMENT*****

My A/C will not be working for the tournament. Here is the new schedule:

Friday Night - We will hold the first categories at my house. We will wait until later in the evening to allow the cooler temperatures to flow in from the outside. Anyone who wants to come early can still come and enjoy my pool. This should actually work out better for the Ft. Lauderdale group, since we can wait until they arrive. (Josh K. - you will not want to spend the night at my house...trust me. I can give you a ride home late Friday night as needed.)

Saturday - All events for Saturday will be moved to a new location. Our friends from church have a big, beautiful home and have offered its use. We will have everyone meet at my house Saturday morning, then we will carpool to the new location. I will have to delay the start a little to make sure that anyone who is not on the boards will know about the changes.

There will be no Sunday events, and we will need to keep a tight schedule at our friend's house. I want to be out of there as early as possible Saturday night. Also, make sure you bring money for food, since I will not be able to provide like I usually do.

I apologize for the inconvenience these changes will cause. My house is already over 90 degrees during the day, and with over 20 people in the house, I fear the heat index will be unbearable. I do not want anyone to get sick.
My wife is a hottie.
