GAMING SCHEDULE (no. of rounds according to player count) :

Friday (Starts 5pm *deck checks 4:30pm or earlier):
(Phase 1) Type 2 2-Player OR Sealed Deck OR Type 1 Multiplayer (tentative timeslot)

Saturday (Starts 9am *deck checks 8:30am):
(Phase 2) Type 1 2-Player OR Type 2 Multiplayer

(Phase 3) Booster Draft OR Teams

**Phase 2 is followed by LUNCH**

**For Booster Draft  *** BRING YOUR OWN NON-S/A LOST SOULS!

Please spread the news regarding the need to sleeve Sealed Deck and Booster Draft cards.

It has become tradition to urge or require closed category players to sleeve their decks.  The reasons are obvious:  the occurrence of cards (especially Lost Souls) accidentally being left with the opponent is almost perfectly eliminated;  time is saved by preventing the need for the whole player population to wait for a re-count of decks that may be missing cards.

Bring your own sleeves if you wish to save money.  Sleeves should also be available from the Host or a few players who have them for sale (if and only if the Host runs out of stock).

Please adhere with the must-sleeve-cards tradition for closed deck categories.

Updates to come as a result of finalizations from the E-mail exchange.

Godbless all!

The thread has been unlocked after the first official State tourney has been announced by Cactus.

To people on the E-mail exchange, this is not a thread for discussing what is already in the exchange.

I must say that I am excited the location of Regionals has been annouced.  However I don't think I will be able to justify a 6 hour drive with my wife and baby.  Especially since we will be putting our vacation time into traveling to Nationals.  Anyhow I will leave it up to my wife to see if I can get a ride with someone else at the very least.

*edit* My wife said I can go, so I might make the drive by myself or with a friend if he can go. If we are at least planing on attending PA States.

I will try my hardest to be there, but due to my family circumstances (which I will put in the prayer forum, I realized I haven't said anything to my Redmption family about it), I can't make promises.

Colts Neck, NJ--May 28-29, 2010

North East Regional Tournament. Host: Justin Sangillo and Robert Braun, justinds@camden.rutgers.edu. Location: Colts Neck Community Church, 25 Merchant Way, Colts Neck, NJ 07722. Closed Deck - 2 Player ($15.00), Type 1 - 2 Player (free), Type 1 - Teams (free), Type 2 - 2 Player (free), Type 2 - Multi-Player (free), and Booster Draft ($15.00). Starts: 5:00p.m. Friday and 9:00a.m. Saturday.

So I was looking at this on the cactus website and I noticed that type 1-Multiplayer is not listed.  If this is the case I am super bummed.

Type 1-Multi is hands down my favorite category and the one that I have been able to have the most success with.  Is there anyway we can add this event if it not going to be offered.  I understand that everyone likes different events and that there are a lot of events for one weekend now, but how is that fair?

This has always been a touchy issue between players and hosts. There is limited time and a large number of events. With the expected larger turnout for regionals, rounds run longer. Something has to go, and someone will always be bummed. Please don't feel it was a slight - I know these guys and they are putting a lot of effort to please the most with the best events.

I understand but i'm still bummed. I would think t2-multi would have been the first to go since t2 events were the least played at NE regionals last year. T1 multi was only the third least played, not including teams which was not played.

Perhaps T1-Multi can still be inserted as one of the phase options.  Just a thought.

I am unsure If I am able to attend Regional's this year.  Time will tell.  If I do not travel I am unsure of how many of my players will come.  I will update when I can know more for sure.

At Nationals we will run all the events, thats a given.  I know time is MUCH more limited at Regionals but while I think running multiple events at the same time might be a headache for the Judges and waters down the potential competition,  it does spread the joy around for a maximum winner pool.   Just a thought.

I have a block of rooms reserved at the nearest hotel, the Colts Neck Inn Hotel. The price is decent, but it is Memorial Day weekend and this is a nice hotel. The rate is $109 for a king room, $129 for two queens, two-person. Each additional person is $20, max 4 per room. The hotel serves a continental breakfast, and is a five-minute walk from the church. It is near food locations as well.

To reserve, call the Colts Neck Inn Hotel at 800-332-5578 or 732-409-1200. Give them the group name "Colts Neck Community Church." BTW, this hotel is nice enough that wives and mothers would enjoy a stay. I can give them directions to outlet malls and other shopping, or they can hit the (crowded that weekend) Jersey Shore.

If anyone is looking for a cheaper hotel, well, first of all good luck that weekend. The rates are up a bit since that's the traditional start of the summer season. I can scout out locations for specific hotels if you e-mail me with a request at DDiceRC@aol.com.

I do have a few spots available at the church, first come, first served.

The official schedule for NE Regionals should be up sometime this week. I have posted about the hotel block previously. The room rate is guaranteed until May 14th, I still have some availability at the church.

For a few who have mentioned using this time as vacation, I would like to point out the following areas of interest within a reasonable drive from Colts Neck. NOTE: Since this will be Memorial Day weekend, it could get a little crowded.

Six Flags Great Adventure: About 30-40 minutes depending on traffic. Directions If you stay at the Colts Neck Inn, turn right out of the hotel and stay on that road until you get to Six Flags. Seriously. (There's an outlet mall just before you get to the park if you like to shop.)

Point Pleasant Beach: About 30 minutes to get there; you may have to wait in a little traffic for parking. This is a very kid-friendly Jersey Shore town with boardwalk amusements, rides, food, arcades, etc., plus a very nice beach. Daily beach tags are sold on the boardwalk. If you fish, you can catch a variety of interesting creatures, along with fluke and blues, along the inlet. Fishing boats leave every day and evening.

Monmouth Battlefield Park: About 15-20 minutes. Site of the largest artillery battle of the American Revolution, and of Molly Pitcher's Well. The park is a great place to picnic, and has recreational facilities and a visitor's center. You can visit Old Tennant Church near the battlefield, which was a significant church during the First Great Awakening.

There are several parks around Colts Neck, including Poricy Park, where you can go into the stream and try to find fossils. For those of that net, there is a winery in town that gives tours. A drive around Colts Neck takes you past a number of horse farms; there are more horses than people in this town (yes, this is New Jersey, surprise, surprise!).

The bold can drive into New York City, or take the Garden State Parkway to the Jersey City side and visit the Statue of Liberty (which is in New Jersey!) and Ellis Island (which should be, but New York got the buildings and Jersey got the undeveloped part of the island).

If you stay on Sunday, there are three churches in town, including Colts Neck Reformed Church and St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church. But I hope if you stay you would join us at Colts Neck Community Church on Sunday morning.

If you want to tour and have other interests, please let me know and I'll see what I can dig up for you. As a native Jerseyan I'm always happy to promote my state.

Sadly, this year, I will be unable to attend Regionals. My lease runs out on the 31st of May, and I will be finishing the moving out process that weekend. I also am trying to save money so that I may be able to go to Nats, especially because I have not nailed down a job as of yet. With all this, I can't justify a 8 hour round trip in one day. I will miss all of you dearly (this will be the first Regionals I have missed in 5 years!) and hope it is an enjoyable time.
