Yeah, not really liking the 3 month tournament season schedule.
We are planning our State tournament that weekend, so it matters greatly if this is the date we are using or not.
I know we are still awaiting Rob receiving the cards before cards can get out. But it looks like there will be 3 state tournaments the weekend of June 15th & 16th (and two "higher level" tournaments before). I'm still wondering about legality.Honestly, I'm not as much concerned with being able to play with these cards as I am the true honest "fairness" of this time frame. People who have the money are able to buy complete sets or enough boxes to get a complete set. But if you don't have the spare money then do you really have a chance to compete? As much as I hate to even mention this, I almost feel like these cards should NOT be legal for "open" play until AT LEAST a month after "official" release. I don't like the idea of RNRS points being skewed towards people with the money because their decks are going to be "stronger." I obviously see no problem with including them in "closed" categories, as the availability will be equal to all. I know Gabe eluded to this being a potential non-issue in the future, but it is an issue now. This is just the opinion of someone who won't be affected by the ruling, as I had the spare money to pick up some cards. I also have zero RNRS points as of right now, so it could help me get some quickly. But more importantly I am a host who has a lot of young players that attend my tournaments, and I would prefer them to not get mad or frustrated by the fact that people have these cool new cards and they don't!
Its common for collectable games to have new products legal 7-10 days after the release. If cards ship on June 2nd as expected I don’t see any reason they shouldn’t be legal the weekend of the 16th.Will players have an advantage if they planned ahead and saved money to buy the new cards we’ve all known were coming out for months? Maybe. The card pool is vast enough that I don’t think player who don’t have FoM will be at a large disadvantage. Last year I played at Iowa States with decks that had no RoJ and no Reserve while others had both.

FoM cards will begin shipping to distributors today and continue will through Tuesday. The 2nd printing is in production at the printer now and I hope to receive the 2nd printing by the end of next week. If all goes well, cards from 2nd printing will go out the week of June 4th.Cards will be legal for tournament play starting June 9th. We only have two tournaments scheduled that weekend. Steve's in FL. FoM cards will be legal for that event. We also have Kevin's state level tournament in Canada June 8 & 9. Because of the extra delay in getting cards to Canada, Kevin and I have agreed that he will not allow FoM cards in his tournament that weekend.
