Wouldn't Nazareth basically stop Golden Cherubim? So that would mean a site that stays out always stops this artifact.

Yes, it would. But if you use a heavy search deck, you wouldn't want to have Naz in your deck.

Two Evil Brigades
Deck 2: White & Another Brigade
Orange and Another Evil Brigade

Bold is why I am very concerned about the new Peter. If this assumption is correct, then he negates half of the opposing defense, and negating EC pre-block was a major problem that led to part of the imbalance between the last starters. His D1 isn't as bad as some think, though that does make Disciples' drawing even more rampant.

Yes, it would. But if you use a heavy search deck, you wouldn't want to have Naz in your deck.

So, I hated Golden Cherubim when I looked at it at first, but as I read the thread, I had these same sudden realizations. It at least has a hard counter in Nazareth. I do still have a problem with the fact that almost every competitive deck will have to have either Golden Cherubim or Nazareth in it (rarely both), however.

I'm basing those assumptions off of how the last starters were constructed ex. Exodus and Leviticus Heroes against Egyptians and Rebellious Israelites.

You would still have DoN to use. You would have to do it before sending in your Hero though. If I recall, the CBN on Arts/Cov/Curses only apply during the battle.

No, just many specify that they are CBN in the Battle Phase, meaning they are not CBN outside of battle. This card, however, would make it so that you could not DoN when your heroes are returning from Set-Aside with something like Pentecost to stop the search. Since it happens in the same phase, the search would still happen in that case.

You have Desecrate the Temple, King Jehoash, and Breaking Jerusalem's Wall that can either discard it or take it. There are propabley others, but those were the only I could think of right now.

This is not correct. The special ability is a triggered effect, not an ongoing ability, so if the Artifact is not present it can't trigger. You could play DoN and then bring your Heroes with Pentecost back and the opponent would not be able to search.

I see your point on that, and change my position. I had been working with the card as ongoing, when it is not explicitly so. However, I am a bit concerned about how this would be ruled, and would like to hear the Elders weigh in on that just to be on the safe side.

Here is what the REG defines Triggered as:
Some ongoing special abilities are delayed until a specified game action takes place. These special abilities are then activated or ‘triggered’. Triggered special abilities are ongoing abilities of the form ‘if X happens then Y’.

So it is ongoing in a way, but is not always active until X happens

Eh, I don't think Peter's that bad there. I am by no means saying Moses was balanced in the last starters, but with Peter, he's just negating the characters (unless there's a card like madness in the new starter), so so I don't think its that bad. I mean John (while very powerful) wasn't too bad in the last starters.

Missed this the first time responding to this post, and I'd like to say drawing has hard counters with Rain Becomes Dust, searching has a hard counter with Nazareth, yet people still play search and draw all the time in this meta. The hard counters didn't stop the wheel within a wheel, AuTO or Sam abuse in the past set, so I don't think we can rely on them to stop this here.

Peter is nice but he's not really OP. Overall the two decks were found to be pretty balanced in my testing. If anything I would be concerned about half of the offense in the J deck.

Scattered was truly a team effort. After Nationals we discussed ways to thwart CBN banding on offense. Scattered was one of the cards we created. I can think of at least 5-6 of the elders that gave input that helped shape that card. It's one of my favorites in the new stuff. If you like Scattered you might also like the "fool" Lost Soul.

I really do like scattered, I think its a fantastic idea for a card, I'm just worried that with the 4 colors it will be splashed into just about every deck and every "meta defense."

Card Opinions are between minute 3-25 or so I think.

But basically,

Peter is ok.
Twice Afflicted is ok.
Son of God is neat.
Scattered is hard counter to every offense that's any good and it's playable in meta defense.
Golden Cherubim is BROKEN BROKEN BROKEN.

We should ban the use of the word broken until someone can prove that a card is broken and since none of the new cards are in your decks you can't use one the new card to break the game. Lets see how things play out in different decks before we announce things as broken.

I'll reserve total judgement on it until the cards are all released and played with, but if I've ever seen a new card that I'd wager would turn out to be broken, it'd be Golden Cherubim.

Cards that depend on your opponent's plays to do anything cannot ever be broken (unless they respond to actual game actions like "making a rescue attempt" or "reducing hand to eight at end of turn"), therefore Cherubim cannot be broken.

Am I right that if Rain Becomes Dust and Golden Cherubim are both active the Rain Becomes Dust insteads the draw and Golden Cherubim doesn't trigger?

However this would be awesome if you had Golden Cherubim and Gifts of the Magi up (and your opponent drew cards from an ability).
