I've got a problem...

I've got this small problem with redemption cards. You see I LOVE the game but there isn't any (I MEAN ANY) tournys by me, so I don't really see a reason to bye any cards (or even own them for that matter) other then the Creation fest I'm going to this summer (they have a redemption tourny all week). So I ask my fellow Redemption players if I should buy more cards and try to get more players here or just not buy the cards.

I would not buy very many new cards.  Maybe just a few here and there.  However, I wouldn't let that stop me from teaching other people the game.  If you get more people then you'll have reason to get more cards.

May you prosper greatly!

If you were going to buy more cards, it would probably be better to get some starter decks to help ya with teaching others.

If you want to start a playgroup, then contact Schaef.  He runs the Storehouse and will send you a bunch of cards for free.  They won't be ultrarares or anything, but they'll get you started.  Then teach some people how to play.  If they like it then they might order a FooF or RoA tin or 2.

Once you have 3-4 people playing then start hosting local tournaments for T1-2p and T1-mp.  You won't have to buy any starters or packs for the tourney, and you'll get your playgroup some new packs as well as Harvest Times and whichever promo you choose.  This will also maintain excitement in your group.

Once you get about 10 people playing then start hosting district tournaments.  Try to get your best players to switch to T2 so that they and your noobs will all have a chance to win.  At this point other playgroups that are within driving distance may come join you.  This can be a great way for your playgroup to learn new strategies, do some great card trading, and it ramps up the excitement to a new level.

As long as you keep working at it, this plan should work.  I wish you the best.

yeah if you play by your self and theres really no one to teach you could be like Lambo and play but just dont buy cards. But if you want to start a play group you should for sure follow Profs advice and use the storehouse.

I did pretty much the same thing the Professor lined out, with the exception of getting lucky and having a few people to play with right off the bat. I get 15-25 people at my tournaments regularly.

I recommend once a week.  Even if not everyone comes every week, just being consistent over the long-term will help a ton.  As long as you are there every week, at least several of your regulars will come and a few other people will show up inconsistently.  That should give enough variety of opponents to get some good games going.  Then have a tournament every 2-3 months, which hype up big so that everyone shows up.

Id recomend tournies once a month from personal experience but of course dont do that till you have enough people.

MehMan, just a word of caution. If you are thinking of bringing the G/H to church, you may want to check with the youth leader/pastor first. Some churches can get quite touchy when someone brings in playing cards and starts showing them around on Sundays.

My church isn't a touchy one I asked my uncle if it was cool to bring them (i've brought them befor and played a game there and people asked what it was and told them (now the people i wanted to show), but still fun to show them and my uncle has been going for maybe 20 years so he would know), but ya i don't think anyone would mind cause i did bring them in the past.

*thinks it strange that MJB apparently only has left hands*

The regularity of playing every week is a good idea.

Unfortunately for me, neither I nor anyone that is interested have enough time each week to play. :(
