Graduation Speeches

Hey,

I am auditioning to be a class speaker. Now, as you may know, the class speaker gives a 3-4 minutes speech about memories and experiences of a student and represents the senior class. His speech is different from the valedictorian and class president who would be the one to give a speech about sending us to the future.

I'm just asking for suggestions on what I can put in my speech or what a good structure would be. I haven't really seen any graduation speeches yet, and I would hate to give a cookie cutter speech because that would definitely not win.

   Thankyou

Talk about funny events.
Yes, I was kind o thinking along that line... like talking about true events that it's so true it's funny. For example, everyone stressing about prom, all the drama, everyone stressing about SATs, how young and silly we looked as freshman wth braces and stuff, etc

Since im short also, Im thinking of adding lines like "Dont ever think ur small enough to make a difference, cuz if u do, try sleeping in a room with a mosquito flying around"

Congrats, dude!

I agree that funny stories are a good idea.  The Class Speaker at my H.S. graduation was a very good friend of mine, and I remember him trying to write something that wouldn't be cliche.  Since he knew that the valedictorian and student body president would both speak first, he decided to go wacky so that everyone wouldn't be bored by the time finished.

First, he had a member of the school board take his picture with the graduating class from on stage.  That got everyone excited, and he then performed a song he wrote that talked about his fear of kindergarden, as well as poked fun at the many trends we'd experienced (ie, Pogs, Napoleon Dynamite, Power Rangers, Tamagotchi, Pokemon, Chuck Norris (an alumni of our HS), etc...), and it was fun to have that sort of "boy, we were stupid" moment.

Anyhow, all that to say that the humor is needed.  Those speeches are way too boring to sit through otherwise.
