Star Trek, mostly because I've not seen Up, but we'll see whether that changes things.

I thought Transformers was better than advertised, other than the way overwrought first act, but Star Trek is the only movie (of admittedly very few this year) that I walked out wanting to turn around, walk right back in and watch it again immediately.

Star Trek was phenomenal! I almost forgot that was this year...kinda got drowned out by Harry Potter and Transformers in my mind...but yes that one was fantastic!

For me, it would be Star Trek (though most of the time I saw Sylar instead of Spock :P).

Up! was funny but it made me depressed later that night so I doubt I'll see it again.

I have yet to see Harry Potter/Night At The Museum 2/x-men and am never planning to see Revenge Of The Fallen.

Where were you all when Terminator: Salvation came out? Hands down the best of the year. Longtime terminator fan, and this one was second only to T2, one of my all time favorite movies.

Up was really good, but the talking dogs just pushed it out of the realm of whimsical unbelievability and into the realm of throwing aside cohesive story to get kids to see the "talking dog movie." Could have been one of the best ever; as it stands, just very good.

I liked Harry Potter quite a bit as well, though I never read the books. I have seen all the movies though, and the last couple have been really quite good. The magic in this one seemed much more "realistic" in this one and I didn't find myself going "why don't they just cast a spell that (blah blah blah)" nearly as much.

Watchmen was alright. Some really good parts, some REALLY bad parts. Overall it had a lot of potential, but I really didn't like where the story went.

I am shocked that this many people liked Transformers 2. To each his own I guess.

I told you, I've been rather anemic on movies watched vs. movies desired to watch.

To the people that were turned off to most of the unnecessary first act shenanigans, I can get that.  After that, it was giant fighting robots that turn into stuff.  Basically, the same as the first movie but with more robots and less blah blah blah.

People who complain about the lack of story seem to forget a). it's a Michael Bay movie, and b). the first movie was the same thing: ancient technological artifact, autobots want to protect it, decepticons want to conquer the universe, boy is the key to earth's survival, okay, cue the giant fighting robots that turn into stuff.

It was really good also, but it wasn't quite up there with Star Trek and Watchmen in my book.

Well, I didn't like the first Transformers either, so I'm probably not the best to compare the two.

But yeah, when Terminator: Salvation comes out on DVD or whatever, do yourself a favor and check it out. Didn't get very good reviews, so maybe I'm in the minority, but I loved it.

And just to clarify, my "where were you all" was not necessarily to say it is the undisputed king of movies. I was just shocked no one even MENTIONED it yet, positively or negatively.

I had no expectations for it and it was very good. Other than the occasional Christian Bale disaster at acting, it was a well done movie that was actually believable despite being science fiction.

I definately support purchasing it on DVD.

Christian Bale is a better actor than you can imagine! Why are all his movies awesome?

He is a great chooser of parts, because he chooses excellently written stuff. But some of his acting is just so..bland.

Heh, mostly I'd agree with you, but Terminator: Salvation isn't exactly what I'd call "excellent writing". That movie totally fell on its face after they rewrote the script a zillion times.

Ok true. But you have to admit, if there was ever a part Bale was meant for, it was John Connor.
