YOU TRIGGERED MY TRAP OF THE DEVIL

Smokey and I were discussing randomness, and this legit card idea somehow popped up.

A brief explanation of how it works. You play the enhancement onto the fortress, so you still require an EC of matching brigade to put the enhancement on the fortress. However, once the enhancement is on there, it can activate even if there are no evil characters left in play, as it has already been played. This card could help as a last ditch effort when your opponent drops a CBN battle winner, or you can use it to play the card normally during battle, but make it harder for them to know what it is (U&T).

And, it says while blocking, so there is no way to activate the enhancement on your turn, so it doesn't take High Place's job away.

Text version:

Evil Fortress:
During your preparation and discard phase, you may play an evil enhancement on this fortress face down. While blocking, if you have initative or there are no evil characters in battle, you may reveal the enhancement, activate, and discard it. Opponent may discard two cards from their hand to negate the enhancement.

    (holds one evil enhancement)

i don't really like it that much. we already have a Trap of the Devil anyways and we don't need a remake of it either.

The title of the thread is another obvious hint as to why Smokey and I decided to make it a Trap of the Devil reprint. So, the title of the card may not be as serious, lol.

The cost seems too high. EG: Great Image on this followed by CM. No need to even block. One discard to negate seems more reasonable. Or even, one hero not in battle + 1 card from hand.

You would have to atleast present an EC into the battle, and that EC would have to have init.

I would argue that this could only hold either N.T. or O.T. enhancements. It needs some sort of limitation. OR that you can only use enhancements of the evil brigade that was used to block... something to discourage splashed O.P. enhancements

Self or Ashod + JiP, Korah's Rebellion, Achan's sin, deceit of saphira, deluge of rain etc. infinite sight lock out.

It says if your EC has initiative OR if there are no EC's in battle. This would help tremendously in protecting my LS's before I can get my defense out....

Broken, you could make an entire defense out of this with CBN enhancements. Also the other TotD is already good enough.

I.E. you need to have or had a character in battle to play the enhancement.

The way I worded it, you only need to have had an evil character in PLAY to have used it.

You can activate it even if they clear your territory after the enhancement is placed on it. It's mostly designed to help get around CBN battle winners.

Broken, you could make an entire defense out of this with CBN enhancements. Also the other TotD is already good enough.

Such as?
Overwhelmed by Phillistines is only CBN if a purple hero is in battle.
Rabsaris Attacks is only CBN with one EC.
Romans Destroy Jerusalem kills N.T. heroes only.
The End the Battle ones would do zero good.
Hamans Plot, maybe.
Evil Spirit is a temporary battle winner.

Thats about all of the CBN battle winners.

Five. the CBN end the battle ones are useless without ECs in battle, and not all of those are guaranteed to block every RA.

It would also require 4 evil brigades minimum, a phillistine, Rabsaris, and a roman.

I fail to see how that is any better then current defenses.

Interesting idea. But, this could be really evil!!!

EX: Opponent bands Claudia to ET, then play AOCP. Then, no EC's are in battle. What if wrath of satan is the enhancement! That would really get some people annoyed!  :P

That's exactly one of the reasons I designed this. We need some way to get around CBN battle winners.

It encourages defense. I don't like it.
