Son of God theme

I understand that it won't work to make a Jesus hero in the game but it is a shame because He happens to be the central character of the entire Bible.

My idea for a solution is to create several cards that would be based on using SoG as the cost instead of playing it.  It would kind of be like an A-bomb deck where the strategy centers on a single card.  A couple examples:

to represent the presence, leadership, and teaching of the disciples

Place your Son of God in territory to give (some benefit) to your disciples while your Son of God remains in play.  This could be tricky because disciples are already so good.

verse - not sure yet

The sacrifice of Christ - multicolor

Remove this card from the game and discard your Son of God to discard all evil cards in play, set-aside, and all players hands.

verse - one in Isaiah or Peter about bearing the sins of the world

The ascension of Christ

Remove your Son of God from the game to ?bring in the Holy Spirit?

the verse about Him needing to leave before the Comforter is sent

that would give angel at the tomb alot more play, (discard to activate this effect) angel at the tomb to bring it back since it wasnt technically played.
You will never feel as alive as you are when you're on fire for God. (Unknown)

yeah, you'd have to make them all remove from the game.

If you make them all remove from the game then you can't build to use these cards together.  Besides I don't think it is necessary.

It can take time to pair up SoG and NJ.  If you have to first get it, discard it, recur it, and then play it, I think the difficulty of that will make it unlikely to get paired with NJ.

I think this theme could use a couple more cards to round it out but I'm not sure exactly what.

I think Angel at the Tomb being used more is great for this but I think maybe a couple more cards that can get back SoG if it hasn't been used would be helpful.  possible verses - that He endured the cross for the joy that was set before Him, verses where He predicts His death and resurrection to the disciples, verse where He says that no one is taking His life but He is laying it down (obviously paraphrases from memory)

If you discarded your Son of God without its ability being used then search your discard pile for it and set it aside for 3 turns.  Then return it to your hand.

for the Place in territory one is it after you play SoG or do you not get to use it beforehand? because as RW said you could play it and then place then play ANB and do it again and that would be terrible in a T2 deck that has ANB's x5 and Searches x5 and isn't playing against a deck with Nazareth in it x5.

No, you do not get to use the ability on SoG.  The idea for all these cards is instead of playing it like normal you place it/discard it/ remove it, in order to gain some great benefits.

So the placer would place it from hand and give a benefit instead of using SoG's ability.  You could then play ANB, shuffle, redraw SoG, and play it like normal but the extra difficulty and time involved would imo make that fine to allow.
