Ozem. 1 Chronicles 2:15 6/8 Gold Hero
Jesse’s Son. Israelite
May band to one of Jesse’s sons to shuffle an evil character in territory.

David, the Anointed. 1 Sam 16:13 Gold/white Hero 8/8
Jesse’s Son. Israelite. Musician. (Unity) Israel heroes
Negate evil characters and O.T. enhancements. Discard an animal to exchange a card in hand with a card in reserve. Cannot be prevented.

So by this time David was already a musician and fought a lion but I did not think he should be able to hold weapons because he was not, in my mind, a warrior in an earthly battle. Although I would take the earthly battle over a lion any day, I felt I could leave WC off of him. Since he was a musician I labeled him as such and gave him gold/white. I made Jesse 7/8 because one of the sons was never mentioned and gave David 8/8 because he was the eighth son out of eight, seemed appropriate. I wanted David’s SA to be strong but limited due to his brothers helping him out so if his brother doesn’t grant him CBN on 7Sons Passed, it won’t work on him anyway. He killed a lion to protect his sheep so discard an animal to grab a card that does not see action (reserve) aka sheep…that was my thought process. I also didn’t want to give him another strong ability at the end, and he is unity to cater the deck builds. I feel like David, the Shepherd and Samuel (FooF or RoA whatever he came out in) would be unity if made today.

So in 1 Samuel it speaks of 7 sons passing before David but 1 Chronicles list out the children and lists David as the seventh. I did some reading, seems completely customary to leave out a son who died, did not marry, or bore no children back then which is why I made the numbers 1-8/8 based on their lineage and when they were born. I like how they are all gold to make more of an Israelite theme and stay away from some very strong purple/red cards accustomed to David. Also, instead of making another insanely crazy game changing 5+ year impacting David, this offense would require you to have out multiple heroes to really get David to be near bulletproof. The sons are still easily targetable so I do not think this is too powerful and would also require an entire commitment to this offense to get bulletproof David plus CBN/Regardless of protection 7 Sons. It’s also gold and you don’t have initiative majority of the time. It seems strong, but balanced.

Evil Spirit from God. 1 Sam 16:15 Gold/Purple Brown/Pale Green? GE/EE
EE TC: Place this on a hero. Convert them to a brown evil character. At any time you may discard this card to add them to battle.
GE: Withdraw all warrior class evil characters. If there are none discard 2 cards from hand to discard an evil card.

Lyre for evil. 1 Sam 16: 23 White GE 3/1
If a musician is in battle withdraw an evil character. Cannot be negated on David, the Psalmist.

Sokoh 1 Sam 17:1 Red/Purple/Gold site
When put in play search deck for a Philistine and put in play to search opponent’s deck for a non-dominant and discard it.

Gathered at Sokoh. 1 Sam 17:1 Black EE 5/3
Interrupt the battle. If Sokoh is in play band any number of warrior class evil philistines into battle.

Goliath, Champion of Gath. 1 Sam 17:4 12/12 Double WC
Taunt. Philistine
Negate heroes. If holding a weapon return an O.T. hero (except David). If holding two weapons evil Philistines cannot be negated.

Bronze Helmet. 1 Sam 17:4 Black EE 0/3 WC
If an opponent discards or banishes your Philistine you may reserve this card instead.

Bronze Greaves. 1 Sam 17:6 Black EE 0/2 WC
You may exchange this card for another weapon in draw pile, discard or reserve.

Subject to Slavery. 1 Sam 17:9 Black EE
Unity- Evil Characters Philistines
TC: Negate one good fortress in play or set aside. If opponent’s hero is defeated in battle you may capture and convert them to a black evil character.

I love this card. Since unity is owner and controller, I believe, then this would work. If not, then just remove unity and put, if Goliath is in territory, or something along those lines.

Defy Israel. 1 Sam 17:10 Black EE 2/3
TC: Restrict opponent from drawing or searching next turn. If played in battle withdraw all O.T. weapon class heroes (except David).

Philistine Terror. 1 Sam 17:11 Black EE 5/2
TC: Restrict O.T. weapon class heroes from marking a rescue next turn. Opponent may discard a hero in territory and good enhancement from hand instead. If played in battle negate a good card to draw 1.

40 Day Taunt. 1 Sam 17:16 Black EE
Unity Philistine Evil Characters
TC: Decrease all opponent’s heroes by 4/0. If result is * or less discard heroes.
-Should this be 0/4 for consistency?

Rescued from Beasts. 1 Sam 17:34 Gold/Purple/Red GE
Discard an animal to discard all evil cards in battle. Cannot be negated if used by David.

David’s Staff 1 Sam 17:40 Artifact
Identifier-May be activated on David X = # of animals in territory
Protect your animals in territory from opponents. Search deck or discard for an animal. If activated on David and he enters battle decrease an evil character by X.

5 Smooth Stones. 1 Sam 17:40 Red/Gold/Purple GE 5/0
Negate the last evil enhancement played. Toss the next enhancement opponents plays.

Sling in Hand. 1 Sam 17:40 Red/Gold GE
Star: Look at the bottom 5 of deck, topdeck a good card.
TC: Place in territory. Each upkeep decrease an evil character 0/1 or 0/2 if David is in territory.

Carcasses for Animals. 1 Sam 17:46 Gold/Red GE 4/2
TC: Place in territory. If an evil character is discarded by decrease you may choose an animal to gain their special ability.
-I’m not sure how much I like the idea of a good card helping an evil card because pretty much all animals are EC’s, so thoughts/changes on this are encouraged.

Struck without Sword. 1 Sam 17:50 Red/Gold GE 3/1
If no weapons are in battle discard an evil character. Opponent may discard 1 evil card (or 2 if used by David) from hand instead. Cannot be interrupted.

Decapitating Goliath. 1 Sam 17:51 Red/Gold GE
Discard an evil character. Cannot be negated if played against an O.T. warrior class evil character or if used by David.

I love this one.  Very creative:

Evil Spirit from God. 1 Sam 16:15 Gold/Purple Brown/Pale Green? GE/EE
EE TC: Place this on a hero. Convert them to a brown evil character. At any time you may discard this card to add them to battle.
GE: Withdraw all warrior class evil characters. If there are none discard 2 cards from hand to discard an evil card
.

And characters can't be equipped with more than one weapon.

Goliath, Champion of Gath. 1 Sam 17:4 12/12 Double WC
Taunt. Philistine
Negate heroes. If holding a weapon return an O.T. hero (except David). If holding two weapons evil Philistines cannot be negated.

What would the consequence be if the taunt wasn't accepted?

Game rules state characters can only hold one weapon, but game rules also states that one card per 50 in t1 but cards like Locust from the Pit change the game rules. So I think Goliath, who held a ton of weight in armor, should be able to hold 2 weapons. I believe rulebook states that losing a taunt the hero is captured but if a player taunts, they lose their rescue that turn. Also, my other card says if a Philistine wins a taunt then they can’t attack next turn.  ;D

Thanks for the love in Evil Spirit from God. I wasn’t sure if rules with owner controller allowed it to work, but it could be reworded if needed. Oh, I just realized I didn’t answer your question. If a hero does not accept they are captured I believe, same as losing the battle.

Yeah definitely, so long as a specific identifier allows him to hold a second weapon (which would be really cool).  You just didn't specify it in the ability/identifier, so I was just clarifying the hold part.

Paraphrasing this but the REG states that the consequence to not accepting/losing a taunt is card-specific (it's in the parenthesis after the taunt word). You could have a lot of fun with a new taunt on that Goliath, whether the hero is captured or something else.  8)

Skip identifier and print the symbol on both sides!

My King Saul and Goliath both had the intention of printing WC in both sides. I just wrote double WC instead but that’s what I meant.
As for taunt being character specific, now that changes things...good find like usual.

I really like your thought process here.  Only thing I'm not sure about is whether the identifiers are time based.  It would be pretty cool if they were but all of the card printed prior to identifiers would then need errata to add an identifier.  (set rotation would make this point moot)

Also, love how you were able to look up some information to make some fun choices on strength/toughness.  I was not aware of that piece.

Regarding the armor from Goliath, you could make it like the Fruit of the Spirit/Children of Light combination and make them territory class.

Good feedback Sean and thanks for the comment, I like that piece about Fruit of the Spirit combo, I could make them all black and another color, each one being different to add multiple brigades in territory to limit their overall power.

40 Day Taunt seems like a good opportunity for a paralysis effect instead of a discard.  Maybe something like, "Paralyze opponent's heroes currently in play, set aside, or hand from entering battle for _ (2 or 3?) turns, except David.  (Heroes are healed if David enters battle.)"  That would probably have to be a dominant, but it doesn't target heroes in deck or reserve to give the same type of effect as David coming after the start of Goliath's challenge.

For David's Staff, I think it'd be better to only protect domesticated animals rather than all of them.  Not sure how that would be worded though.

Your idea of Carcasses for Animals makes me want to create a bunch of territory class Enhancements that are animals.  It would be silly to have an animal make a successful rescue so making them a hero would be out of the question in my mind.  But making them a TC Good Enhancement seems like a nice way to create a herd of sheep or cattle that in some way helps the shepherd or can be used for offerings/sacrifices with Priests and Israelites.

May you prosper greatly!

Funny you bring that up because I spent the most time with Carcasses for Animals and David’s Staff, I couldn’t ultimately decide on the wording and effect. I like your input on paralysis, I wouldn’t mind that change at all. I’ll try to finish chapter 18-19 today, I have 5-7 chapters left.
