2015 Garbage Sealed: First Place

Lots of people at Nationals asking for this list, so here goes!

After finishing up a grueling seven rounds of T1-2P, those of us not able to make top cut were invited to an exclusive 16 person single elimination tournament hosted by Jay Chambers and Travis Brown.  Each participant was given 4 Unlimited and 4 Prophets booster packs, the contents of which would be used to construct their deck for the tournament.  Each player was allowed to trade with their first round opponent per typical Redemption Sealed Deck tournament rules.  Game winners moved on to the next round, losers went away.  Probably to play Iron Man.  I don't know, I didn't lose  ;D

As you can see, not a lot of power in terms of special abilities for even Unlimited and Prophets packs.  I saw some Authority of Christ get played, got Hunger played against me, some (relatively) serious power floating around the tables.  Because I didn't have the power to rely on my special abilities, I needed to turn each of my matches into a resource management game.  This started with deck building - I had to go to 56 cards, and each character needed to either have numbers different from the standard 6/6 or at least one bit of enhancement support.  In game, I was very willing to take mutual destruction on my rescue attempts to either redeem a Lost Soul or force my opponent to spend more of their enhancements.  I had one battle where I was stuffed by a ridiculous collection of enhancements, but I only used 2 of mine where my opponent spent 4.  Defensively, I was disappointed not to open any of the 10/10 guys, but I made do with picking my fights carefully.  One of the upshots to playing at 56 cards was natural soul drought, which helped give me time to set up blocks and rescues.

Everyone who participated seemed to have a great time.  Travis and Jay were both talking of continuing this style of tournament with their own play groups, and I hope more people get to experience this style.
