Besides Spotify?

Pandora *really* likes Mumford and Sons. Grooveshark seems okay...

Grooveshark is 100% illegal, the only reason they haven't been shut down is because all of their music is uploaded by their users so they hide behind that. Don't use grooveshark whatever you do. They pay for nothing while making a killing. Try Rdio.

This. I use youtube as a way of previewing music, then I'll just buy the album in full.

Quality is pretty hit or miss with YT. And adds in front of like 50% of videos instead of like 15%.

I guess the bright side of YT is that I'd never have to listen to Mumford and Sons.

You could just get Ad-Block and never see another add...

Generally speaking I don't care when my posts get downvoted, but if you have a problem with me pointing out that Grooveshark, a company that has been sued on dozens of occasions for illegal use of copyrighted works (and hides behind "our users did it" every time) is illegal then I just don't know what to tell you.

Ip, I'm with you...

Seemes like now steeling music isn't really stealing. I guess because people don't take it from a store or have something physical to hold its "not the same."

(If I had a nickle for every time I heard that.....)

I'm not some in your face bible beater but I do believe in Christians holding each other accountable And have had many people get very mad at me for pointing out that stealing is well, Stealing.
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

I don't even care if people want to pirate, I was just stating a fact. If you are looking to not support piracy and theft of copyrighted content, don't use grooveshark. Period. It is illegal. That's not condemn the service for being illegal (though I do believe that Grooveshark specifically is a company that needs to go out of business) it's just a statement of fact. What they do is illegal, that have been sued many many times and hide behind the guise of user responsibility without taking an steps to remove copyrighted content.

I started using Songza. It's in similar vein fo Pandora, but you can actually pick playlists based on genre, mood, or whatever activity you're doing!

I agree with lp and jbeers.  Stealing music online is still stealing, and there's nothing wrong with pointing that out.

I used to use playlist until I got annoyed with it...I use youtube now. :)

I used to use playlist as well but now my main playlist will only play once and then it errors on all the songs.  I still use it for my worship playlist but mainly use YouTube for my EDM (and if I need to listen to rock, I'll just tune into Radio U).

As for the quality, the music I look out for is usually put up by the company themselves (or some distributor that paid for the rights) so the quality is usually great.

From the perspective of a recording artist, I'd rather people buy my music when they download it, but I'd rather they downloaded it illegally than didn't have it at all. For artists, it's all about having people listen to and like your stuff, and the money is a nice bonus. It's the labels and distributors who get hit when you pirate, but they steal from the artist to get it in the first place. So if you think stealing from a thief at the request of the original owner is still the sinful kind of stealing, yeah, don't download music. Otherwise, I recommend buying it directly from the artist first, and if you can't do so or can't afford it, go ahead and fire up BitTorrent.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!
