Soooooo.... Maleficent the hero....  :o

Personally, I like the reboot, but Disney seems to have latched tightly to the Girl Power mentality. It stinks to be a Disney guy these days.  ;)

Girls generally attend PG rated Disney films in higher volume than guys do, so it makes sense to have female leads. Plus, Disney has historically released more films with female leads (albeit with many of them are eventually rescued by a prince). Strong female leads sell extremely well right now, and it's not really a controversial decision.

Slight necro but did the lack of power consistency bother anyone else? Iron didn't burn her unless plot needed it, Her magic did everything and the kitchen sink, but then she never uses those really helpful powers when they would be great (Sleep dust in that fight? how about that air lift ability?). It was a solid 7/10 for me.
