Best is opinion.  If you want a complete deck list, I believe there are various versions posted online.

Personally I prefer to build the deck myself so if you're like that and just wanting a starting point then I'd say:

TGT,  TGT characters which usually is the 4 white girls and John.  Add Susanna and a few more disciples like James, Thad, Philip, Bart.  Then include the obvious battlewinners like AoC, My Lord My God, He is Risen.

That gives you a start to build on.  Then I think it depends if you want a balanced deck or almost all offence.  10 heros is enough for a more balanced deck.  You also want to choose if you're going to focus on speed (Peter, 4DC, Reach, Words, Pentecost, First Fruits), lost soul generation, territory destruction to help ignore, more battlewinners, recursion, etc.

People talk like there is only one way to build these decks and they are all cookie cutter but thats not how I approach it.  Of course there is going to be overlap but I see a lot of good choices available.  The Nats winning deck included Red which was not the norm and I've built a variation that included the Samaritans also.

I agree with most of your analysis, except that it's hard to get enough disciples in the deck if you limit yourself to 10, I would say 11-12 would be far better.  The staple characters are the 4 TGT ladies, John, and Peter.

Peter is really only for a speed TGT deck. You don't really need him for a balanced deck.
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

I wouldn't think thad would work that well since you only have 5-6 disciples in the deck and it would be another slot used for CoT.

True but TGT really needs speed to do well, I have a hard time seeing a deck without Peter 4DC keeping up with Sam, Genesis, or the majority of other Gardenciple decks out there.

If your Gardenciples deck is relying on Fishing Boat to keep up with top tier offenses I think you've already lost.  :o
Have you visited the Land of Redemption today?
