Egyptian Defense

My son has some Egyptian cards, and wants to try to make a deck with a mostly Egyptian defense. (He'll probably add a few gray cards, since he likes gray, to avoid what happened tonight when Dan got set aside with Journey to Egypt.) He has cards up to Angel Wars, but I have quite a few Priests, and we can get hold of FooF and RoA as necessary. What would be a good, basic, easy-to-play Egyptian defense? (He doesn't care if it's passe, and he wants to keep it fairly simple while he gets back into the Redemption swing.)

Check out the defense outlined here.  Splashing in one or two gold non-egyptians (ie, King of Tyrus) would give you options if they're using Journey to Egypt, but still watch out for Miriam.

Some good pre-tin Egyptians are:

Egyptian Archer
Egyptian Wise Men
Potiphar
Potiphar's Wife

Potiphar can be very useful when you get Pharaoh's Prison out. He can grant CBN to capture cards like Go Into Captivity, Take as a Slave and Enslaved by Egypt, and banding cards like the first three ECs above, Outnumbered, Lurking, Unknown Nation, and Den of Robbers. CBN banding lets you bring in King of Tyrus.

Building Egypt will let you search for Pharaoh's Prison, and you can use it for site lock-out by including Egypt (to give CBN to Enslaved by Egypt) and Banks of the Nile (which becomes Pharaoh's Court to guard against Miriam).

Some other non-Egyptian gold ECs to consider: Emperor Claudius and Evil Spawn.

Cards from the tins you should consider getting:

Egyptian Warden (FooF)
Ruthless (FooF)
The Amalekites Slave (RoA)
Egyptian Horses (RoA)
Given Over to Egypt (RoA)
Banks of the Nile/Pharaoh's Court (RoA)
Fortress Alstad
Have you checked the REG?
Have you looked it up in ORCID?

Journey to Egypt is always going to be a pain for an Egyptian defense.  Christian Martyr and Unholy Writ are potential solutions if you draw them in time.  You'll want to use Wonders Forgotten to remove Journey to Egypt from the game so that Asher doesn't return it for another use.  I'd also suggest using a couple non-Egyptian Evil Characters and Unknown Nation to fetch them.  Most of them have been mentioned already.  These are the ones I like to use (not all in the same deck though):

King of Tyrus
Emperor Claudius
Salome (Treasures from the Past)
Evil Spawn
King Elah

Others also mentioned to watch out for Miriam (ignores gold).  A few tools to include in your deck to help against her are Pharaoh's Throne Room + a couple Pharaoh/Kings, Banks of the Nile and the "Anti-Ignore" Lost Soul found in Rock of Ages tin XIV.
Have you visited the Land of Redemption today?
