You can have 8 Heroes in your Genesis offense. What 8 do you choose?

My choices:
Joseph, Jacob, Simeon, Asher, Benjamin, Rachel, Angel at Shur, Zebulun

I think the only change I would make is take out Angel at Shur, and put in Eve. In order to use A@S effectively, he needs support (since he needs to attack to use the ability, and Genesis has an overabundance of useful Blue enhancements to include any support for A@S). Eve can be one of the speediest Heroes in the game when used properly.

Plus, Eve is one more Simeon trigger. Not a bad choice. In my 2008 deck, I used Angel at Shur but also Shoes of Peace for support. With my deck having less of a discard trend over time, perhaps Eve would be a suitable replacement.

Yeah, Genesis has changed a bit in the last 3 years... ;)

I concur with Prof. I'm working on a Genesis deck, with more than 8 heroes, but if I had to drop to 8 those would be my choices.

As an aside, Eve can be a lot of fun if you play Creation of the World and get her banded in, since then she can pull your human ECs from a probable big reveal.

I would drop Simeon for Angels at Shur if I don't run Creation of the World.  I would drop Eve for Angel at Shur if I'm using demons on the defense.  Other than that I would probably leave it the way the prof has it.

EDIT: Forgot about Judah add him in for Simeon

Have you found Levi to be worth it? Yes I realize he has site access and a band, but how does it make him better than Eve or Angels at Shur who help you get to Joe and Zeb faster?

I'm not denying his usefulness, but wouldn't other options be more useful?

Judah over Asher, really? I'm assuming it's for the exchange for Joseph, but Asher can get Joseph and much more back. The exchange for a captured Hero isn't anything too awesome, but I can see how it might have its uses.

Judah exchanging for a captured hero is awesome. I use it consistantly. I thought about over Simeon.

In Alex's picks I would probably put in Asher for Simeon because he can get back Jacob or Zeb if need be , Judah is an awesome guy (can't believe I initially forgot a about him).  Because Joe and Ben are so critical to a Genesis offense I would want Rachel, Judah, and Asher to recur them.

By the way my Original post is updated to reflect this sentiment.

Well, I have some personal attachment to Simeon that would make it impossible to remove him from my deck. In the 2008 season, Simeon absorbed more Christian Martyrs than any Hero I'd ever seen. His persistent pestering made him the star of my deck, and I'd never want to get rid of him, personally. But this isn't all about my deck, this is about some nonspecific detached offense of 8 Heroes.

Do you find Judah's exchange more useful swapping with Heroes captured from your deck, or Heroes that you yourself capture? I see Judah as a solid 9th Hero, but I feel like he's just outside of usefulness for just 8.

I agree with you about Simeon, hence getting rid of Asher. I usually use Judah to absorb an early game writ. It's nice to be able to force the Writ use and just get the character back next turn.

For me Simeon detracts from the main strategy of Genesis which is abusing Joe.  I feel that Judah and Asher help with that abuse, ergo I chose Judah or Asher over Simeon.

My first thought is that if you're playing a Genesis deck with only 8 heroes, then you're doing it wrong.

But if I had to pick 8, I would go with:
Benjamin, Joseph - these are the most critical cogs
Rachael, Judah, Asher - these get the critical cogs
Jacob, CotH - this gives you a 3 character FBN band in case you run out of GEs
Zebulun - this gives you a win strategy at the end or if you can clear your hand

But Captain is non-Genesis. I thought we were only allowed to pick Genesis heroes.

It depends on what's on the defense. I see there being 3 distinct ways to run Genesis: Hand Discard, Wallbreaker, and Speed.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!
