So is N.T. getting some love this year?! ;D

Great article! Love the meek card idea. So are all characters and lost souls that were printed without a special ability considered to be meek for gameplay purposes? Or do they need to be printed with the meek identifier to be "meek" ?

Any card without a special ability is “meek”. A whole bunch of old cards might be useful again!
So, are there 78 cards that are half/half?
So, are there 78 cards that are half/half?
Will there be new starter decks coming out with this set, or perhaps scheduled for a later (but soon) time?
So the 300 cards are all from the LoC expansion then?
I like to give out bits and pieces of information in a way that keeps people guessing and speculating. I apologize that isn't helpful for the few that are trying to plan their pre-sales. But it's a pretty common way that spoilers and teasers are done. You can trust anything posted to LoR to be official and run by Rob first if there are any doubts or questions.
With Awesome Things/Ride on Victoriously can it be played as either card first? Or is it play one side, then if you get it back play the other side?

You can choose either side to play. Since it involves music there are ways to get it back from the discard pile (which is why each side has "limit once per game"). If you're able to do that you can then play the other side.
So for the 10 supported brigades for this set I've seen these so far we have White, Red, Blue, Gold, Gray, Brown, Crimson, Gold, and Black. That leaves one more hero brigade not seen. It must be purple unless I've gotten one of the others wrong

Faith Unbowed is White/Silver
Also, the Zadok in Matthew is not the priest Zadok - none of them are priests, IIRC.
We have a HUGE devotion/spoiler (10 cards :o or is it 20? ::)) by CrashFach scheduled for Monday, November 18th on Land of Redemption. I definitely learned something new from this one, about the importance of the lineage and how intricately God was revealing his plan of Redemption through these people looooooong before it came to culmination through Jesus!
I think this will blow your mind! :miss:
The copy ability is a trigger that has to wait for all other abilities to complete. In your examples the first GE (D3 play next) and the battle winner and special initiative all have to complete before the copy trigger can complete.

At which point you could copy any of the cards you played? Or just the last one? And does the hero who played the enhancement still have to be in battle?

Is Seth a limit a limit once per game or once per round?
If I may ask, why was Red chosen as the color for "Meek" heroes? Is there a meaning that I missed somewhere?Red is for the blood of Jesus. I think this was started with PoC.

Palegreen/Crimson hand control is gaining some strength. Serpent's Curse + Death + Distressing People = 5 card max hand for your opponent.
Palegreen/Crimson hand control is gaining some strength. Serpent's Curse + Death + Distressing People = 5 card max hand for your opponent.
Distressing People negates Jacob and FLC. Only other card that works besides Storehouse and 7 Lamps'o'Fire is Tables of the Law (FoM)...maybe? But Storehouse is the only one of those that seems like it is actually used based on deck lists that have been posted. And it was hinted that Storehouse is getting targeted by more cards in LoC.Palegreen/Crimson hand control is gaining some strength. Serpent's Curse + Death + Distressing People = 5 card max hand for your opponent.
#Storehouse #Jacob(Israel) #FourLivingCreatures #SevenLampsofFire #EtcEtcEtc
For hired sword, is the instead for the negate and draw or just the draw? Im guess just the draw but not 100% sure based on wording
If the negated card is the only Hero in battle, does choosing to discard the negated card instead grant special initiative?
For Hired Sword we feel like it might be more clearly worded as - "Negate an opponent’s card. Opponent may discard the negated card. If they do, discard this card after battle. If they do not, you may draw 1."
How do the Aliens SA work with it saying 'player' ?
My :2cents: is that it can be confusing but so is wording on Claudius Lysias regarding “transfer to an opponent.” There’s no consistent wording with these capture abilities: Capture this character to opponent’s LoB, Capture this character, Transfer a character to an opponent. I feel that one term should be chosen, and that to be the simplest wording for newer players to easily understand, regarding this ability going forward.
I was more confused by the new wording and your explanation makes sense to me. I can't see the exact wording while at work so can't comment specifically but I think the hard part is that it isn't a standard capture. i.e. "Capture a hero" as that is simple and straight forward. How do the Aliens SA work with it saying 'player' ?
The card becomes a captured character under the control of the chosen player. We used to write out "capture to a land of bondage" but the LoB is the default location for captured characters so spelling that out feels unnecessary.
Do you think that's something people will find confusing?
For the most part Redemption doesn't eliminate old keywords through rotation or by no longer using them. In recent years we've tried to be very careful about adding new keywords so that we don't end up with too many. We've also tried to eliminate some redundancy (EX: ignore and repel or immune and protect). Adding another keyword that is a subset of capture feels like it might be a step in the opposite direction.I asked about Eternal Judgement as I thought it went to territory when it was given. :P
We also want to be very thoughtful about how clearly new keywords represent what they do. "Exile" is a term in MTG synonymous with our term "banish". I'm afraid if we used "exile" in Redemption for anything other than "remove from the game" it would be confusing for the many players that play both CCGs. "Bounce" and "reserve" are examples of recent keywords that most people find intuitive.
The capture portion of Aliens says "You may capture this card to a player." We have other cards in LoC and currently plan to use that same language anytime we want a captured card to be able to go to a Land of Bondage other than the player who is using the capture ability.
We expect to have to teach players that "capture" means - "This card becomes a captured character. Captured humans are treated as a Lost Soul. The default location for captured characters is the Land of Bondage."
Once you understand "capture" it's probably pretty clear what "You may capture this card" means on Aliens. That leave us with "to a player" potentially leaving confusion? We used similar language on Eternal Judgment last year ("give this card to a player" instead of "capture this card to a player") and I don't recall anybody asking what that means. Maybe it's our past inconsistency as the old language for "captured this card and place it in opponent's land of bondage" has become more refined?

Well I would like to see any and/or all of the following:
- a few or all of the Ultra Rare cards
- Any character cards that do not belong to a specific theme (unless Aliens were the only ones)
- Chronicles of the King card
- or if they are any evil Kings of Judah in this upcoming set.
Wow that’s a pretty strong payoff card! But the price is steep...
What would you folks like to see for previews tomorrow?
I don’t believe we’ve seen any covenants yet, so I’d like to see some of those, and perhaps another curse or two.
I like Josiah's Covenant Artifact side...
Godspeed,
Mike

Just looked it up postexilic and Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi are postexilic prophets. Hmm maybe reprints of these guys in the new set. If not then the old meek versions will be useful with this guy.
Could we see some more of the new postexilic heroes?
I've found this guy to be quite devastating if you have him in your opening hand.

Nice, that would sound interesting :)
They’re looking good. I gotta ask, though, are there going to be other brown characters that don’t keep targeting idols? There are already a decent amount that do so already, with current cards and some of these spoiled cards. I’d like to see some different abilities on them that are something we haven’t really seen before.
Wow, you’re just begging me to bring back my gold and crimson edomites deck! Herod the great will reign again!
Regarding Hadad Flees, that’s a nice ability and agree that it has a lot of combo potentials. I’m trying to recall, if you bounce your sole blocker does that enh remain in battle or get discarded? In the past certain cards specified that the enhs remain (like philly armor bearer).
Any chance at seeing Judah today? ;D

Sure! 8)

Here's one and he even deals with those nasty idols for Watchman. ;D
Similar to how the evil royals interact with idols and oppress souls, the postexilics have a lot of interaction with banishing.

Since you’re showing evil Judeans, might as well spoil Gates of Jerusalem. ::)

Nailed it! 8)
Uh not quite. We’ve been spoiled already so we expect more!
Any chance Bravery if David is one of the LRs? That’s one of my favorite cards.
Hadad Flees special ability: Interrupt the battle and bounce an evil human in battle. You may add a different Evil Character to battle.
I really like this card. The special ability on it is unique and different from most other cards.
If I ever get a copy or two of it , I look forward to using it. :)
This one is in desperate need of an update. Any chance she’s in LoC with the evil Judean royalty theme?
Wow! Awesome new cards! Seems really they can turn the general meta a little (well at least in terms of how speediness resp. access can be achieved ;)).
But I do not get the Star-Ability of Peleg, the Divider. How is it supposed to be to work - and even more: How and when is it supposed to be used???? (Since in original usage - i.e. when drawn per game rule - it would just restricted the owning player to do other Star-abilities while it only lasts until draw phase is finished ...)
When it says "different" what does that specifically mean? I'm wondering if you could play this on a generic character, bounce it, then put it right back down, since it's generic.
I would expect "different" to check the card title and disallow any that matched the one that was bounced. Marcus tends to have a better grasp of these interactions though so I'm interested to hear his take.
When comparing attributes of cards, two cards are different if there is at least a partial difference, based on the active identity of cards on the playing surface and the face value of cards at face value. If either or both cards has more than one of the compared attribute (such as a multi-brigade card), only one of that attribute has to be different between the two cards for them to be considered different.
Attributes describe what a card is, not what it does. It includes identifiers, strength, toughness, brigade, card type and reference. It does not include the special ability printed on the card.
Speaking of postexilic characters, how about the spoiling of the prince of them all, Nehemiah; and perhaps his enemies, Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites??
correct me if i am wrong but queen maccah looks more like a een that just got her phone taken.    :laugh:Wow that’s a pretty strong payoff card! But the price is steep...

Here's a couple more teasers. ;)
I'm not sure where to put this question so since its related to LoC I'm putting it here.
I'm really excited that LoC will be offered with only LoC cards and that it is designed to make for a really good booster draft experience. My questions are as follows:
1. How will this affect the cost of booster?
2. Is this going to be only multiplayer booster?

Basically, if it’s a CBN battle winner and you control the condition we consider it OP on the new card face. If it has limitations, such as what it can defeat (ex:non-humans) or via a condition the opponent controls (like the LR above) then it’s probably OK.

I know it isn’t as broad or powerful, but doesn’t the new Josiah’s Covenant violate this?

It sure does. My statement was a generalization and doesn't cover all scenarios. I believe that card has gone unchanged for most of testing so I'm pretty confident our team is OK with a highly limited CBN battle winner that doesn't interrupt/negate first and only works on a character that doesn't get initiative super easy.
Wonder if a black brigade Anak will be in this set? The 3 sons were printed in the FOM set.
If not that is okay too.
It looks like we're back to the CoW/RoJ style of grouping the set by type - dominants at the beginning, then artifacts, sites/forts, dual-alignment, etc. I personally liked the last couple sets being ordered by reference, but I know some people weren't as big of fans. Ah well.I'm a fan of inverse alphabetical.

@jessie i am sure you love all the ruth support as well as the red ;) ;) ;)
So, with Led Astray a Dominant, are there 4 total Dominants (excluding a possible legacy rare) in the set?
Can you play Awesome Things before a blocker is presented? And thereby play the Enhancement pre-block?

Yes.
Frankly I'm shocked that the rarity wasnt a joke and am kind of in disbelief that the leadership team allowed such an objectively terrible idea to get this far
Wasn't there another LS nicknamed "shame" or am I thinking of something else?
Wasn't there another LS nicknamed "shame" or am I thinking of something else?
This is a legacy rare of that soul...? Or do you mean something else?
I mean a completely different one. I am aware this is a LR.
Yes that’s the Shame Lost soul from RoA that’s being made into an LR for LoC. Gabe posted it as a pun in response to KtD’s post about not knowing why the UR status of that meek soul would pass the card creation team. Gabe has “shame” for allowing that to happen.
That’s how it read to me. What else was it meant to mean then?I'm more assuming it was a "shame" it didn't happen to end up as UR.

I am curious as to why Mary does not also have white and/or gold brigade? Wondering mostly if the elders are moving away from the traditional female theme for white and Luke/John for gold? Or is this just another situation like all the versions of David?
It's similar to we have different versions of David where there are different brigades and the abilities focus on different roles he played during his lifetime. We have a really powerful white version of "Mary" in The Woman with Child. The LoC version of Mary and Joseph are focused on their role as the culmination of the lineage. We have future plans to make a version of both Mary and Joseph (plus associated cards) that tie more closely to the N.T. era.Sweet!
I am curious if David’s star ability should be worded as “Play a meek hero from reserve”
Currently it says “Play a Hero as meek from reserve” which seems like you would be able to play any Hero - if it has a meek side, it would be played as meek, but if not it would fall into the category where you do as much as possible. You could play a Hero, it would just not be as meek.
Thoughts?
On the new Bethlehem, why is Luke in parenthesis?
I didn't even think of that until you explained. And it would pose the same issue if Ruth and Luke were switched. Gotta love English. On the new Bethlehem, why is Luke in parenthesis?
To help clarify that both Ruth and Luke are adjectives, instead of one of them being just the named character.
If you remove the parentheses, there's an argument that whichever comes first (Ruth, in this case) is a noun and only refers to the named character. If we wanted it to work that way, the single character would probably come last (Luke Heroes and Ruth), but we don't want to just rely on that logic.
Nice options...
Nice options...
Speaking of nice options... which way will you play this "camp"?
Question - for the 2-in-1 Heroes, are they truly 2 in the sense that you can have 2 copies in a T1 deck (one SA, one meek)?
Where does the promos comes from the new set?
Is the Daniel 9:10 Lost Soul LoC only Promo going to have alternate artwork?
same question for the Wall of Protection LoC only Promo...
Godspeed,
Mike
There isn't a Daniel 9:10 LS yet, so there will probably just be the "normal" artwork.
Is the Daniel 9:10 Lost Soul LoC only Promo going to have alternate artwork?

Gabe: Am I reading your post right that the Daniel LS is now going to be a Promo? If so that is great! What does an LoC only promo exactly mean by the way?
Predictions based off Alphabetical orderExcellent guesses! I take it you aren't aware that all of the card names were spoiled on LoR in the form of a check list for LoC?
Card 205 will have "Assyrian" as the first word in the title. This will be a generic evil character and will have a banding ability that works within the Assyrian theme.
Card 209 will be a reprint of King Shalmaneser V or The Rabsaris

3 regular display boxes is 72 packs, but 6 are URs, so you'd get 66 rares. With 72 rares in the set, it's impossible to complete the set with just 3 regular display boxes.
2 super display boxes is 48 packs with 2 rare slots each and 4 URs, so you'd get 92 rares (96 minus the 4 URs). So there's a decent chance to get all of the Rares in 2 super display boxes.
@Crashfach - Unless I missed something, I think the super packs have 8 commons per pack which would come out to 192 commons in a box.
