I don't really buy games anymore.
Last game I really bought was Brawl.
I don't even want to get Gears of War 2
My school work would never get done then! lol

Oh, and I've seen you've done a great job at keeping your grammar/spelling in check.

Same. Used is usually better, as long as it works.

I think I bought my first console used.

N64 lol.

Before that, my consoles were handed down from my Dad.

Well, i buy old used games, but only if they have manuals, because they are cheap, but for new games, it is a difference of usually $5, so ill go with new to ensure it will run smoothly.

If there's is a small ($1-$5) price difference I will buy new but other than that I always buy used

I buy used. With an Edge card at gamestop. 10% off of all used items other than consoles and a 1 year subscription to Game Informer Magazine for only 4$. You're welcome for the plug John :-p.

Could you buy this, then use it on a 40 dollar game to instantly get your money back (Theoretically). You wouldn't get any money back but it'd still be 40 bux.

thanks buddy, you did half the work for me. :)

note: he meant to say $14. still a deal, considering you get a 1 year subscription to game informer (which is $19.98; save over $90 the newstand price!), plus you get the edge card, which gets you 10% off used games and gets you 10% extra on your trade-ins. if you're even a casual gamer, that will pay for itself in a couple months easily!

to sum up, buying used is a perfectly good option if you want to save a good deal of money. all used games are personally tested to work properly to ensure customer satisfaction. if for any reason you are not satisfied, simply return the game within 7 days to either get store credit or a complete refund (another advantage over buying new; if you have a problem with a brand new game and you already broke it out of the factory seal, we can only exchange it for another new copy of the game). even not liking a game is a perfectly acceptable excuse for a return. i actually had one customer awhile back buy used games periodically, and then return them a week later to get a whole new batch of games...this went on for a couple months or so. in essence, free game rentals :D. anyways, buying used is awesome, so go out and grab those edge cards, save some money in the process, enjoy those complimentary videogame magazines, and of course...

power to the players!

And are guarenteed to be exchanged if they don't work because they somehow got damaged after the test. (I had 3 copies of soul calibur 2 untill I found one that worked XD. GStop was very nice about me returning them though.)

I can verify this policy. My son bought a used Gameboy game a while back and he could not get past the first level. The game mechanics just didn't work for him. I went back to Gamestop and they let him pick out a different game to replace it.

I have been an Edge member for over 6 years now and I have always made up the membership fee either in used game savings or trade-in credit. The magazines are just a free perk.  ;D

Wow, I'm surprised; with the exception of games 2-3+ years old, there tends to be a minimal ($5ish) discount on buying used games. I'd rather pay an extra $5 to avoid the risk of scratches or smudges on the disk. That said, I'm a bit of an elitist, so... yeah.

Thats true, I am thinking of shelling out the extra 5 for my brawl to ensure it works. (Note I have no next gen systems so I ALWAYS buy used. it is alot cheaper)

John which gamestop do you work at around here? I'll have to pop in next pay check to pick up a couple things for the 360 I just bought at the gamestop in Zona Rosa.

fun fact: buying a 360 at zona rosa will cost you more money than buying a 360 at the gamestop down the street at metro north mall [the tax at zona rosa is extraordinary!].

i've been bounced around alot lately. i worked at the one at the legends up until 8 months ago training new employees, then moved to the one in overland park. when i moved into my new apartment in johnson county a couple months ago, i switched to the one in olathe. its been a rollercoaster. :)

Lol thanks for letting me know I got taxed :-p. But oh well. I'll have to stop by olathe sometime when your working. Pay day I plan on buying the entire GH:WT Set, and some other stuff too I'm sure.

I almost always buy used.  The only exceptions any more are 110% grade-A must have right now or I will die games.  The only ones that spring quickly to mind are two of the last Rare titles to hit the N64, and more recently, I pre-ordered Portrait of Ruin because the pre-order deal was so tremendous and cost the same as a regular game at retail.  None of this $90 special edition crap.  I also got Mario DDR, which is dumbed down enough for an old fart like me, and the Mario dance pad is actually quite durable, a nice collectible accessory.

The switch from cartridges to discs makes used gaming a moot point for me.  As long as the disc surface is not damaged, a three-year old copy of Prince of Persia was every bit as enjoyable for me as when it was first released, and it only cost me like $15.

To be fair, my limited budget drives my miserly gaming habits, but truth be told, I eventually get great deals on a lot of great games by holding out for low-priced used stuff.  I almost never pay more than $20 for a game, and usually more in the $10-$15 range, and for that price, I have gotten titles like Mario Sunshine, BH4, both the Mega Man collections, Wind Waker, PoP Sands of Time, RotK, Burnout 2 (still my favorite), Soul Calibur 2, Ikaruga, X-Men Legends 2, Mario Golf, Lego Star Wars, Rogue Squadron 2 and 3, Viewtiful Joe 1 and 2, Metroid Prime, Paper Mario, FF3, Animal Crossing, all the Advance Wars, Elite Beat Agents... you get the idea.

i don't buy alot of games anymore (i have what I need halo 3,brawl,and many other games) but i do want to buy gears of wars cause it looks cool,

another reason behide me not buying games is that I look for the cheapest price (never bought a console used...I don't trust people) all my consols were bought in a bundle or when they went on sale,

also I never knew about gamestop untill about a few years ago and it's a half hour away from me...so I mostly buy my games from stores

I buy new games. Only because I'm a sucker for the latest and greatest... since my beast of a compy can handle pretty much anything I throw at it.  ;D

Either that or new games that have been marked down, usually like a year older, but half the price. If the game comes on a disk, I prefer to have it unused.

It's hard to find good games at gamestop anymore for me ( but I do like the place very much). I just got an xbox, we have N64, gamecube, GBsp, so on... The only problem is that there starting to sell out most of the system games we have. But I still like going there when I can.

Since most of the games I've been buying are 10+ years old, I'd say I pretty much always buy used.
