lol...
For LoTR: BfME
Does it function like SC? If not how does it function? :)

Age of Empires is another VERY good RTS.
-
I don't play, but I have some friends who think Age of Empires is amazing.

Age of empires is great to have fun... but it's not what you would call a "gamer" game. IT's not near good enough graphics. Also... if you want to get an age, then go with age of Mythology. It's way cool.
For bfme, I've never played star craft. :) bfme you have a population limit. So you can only build enough guys in your population limit, and you need more houses and stuff to create for units. YOu need resources which you have just one(money). And everything costs money. Reasons for bfme over other RTS:
1. IT has heroes. Like legit heroes that can take on armies, with abilites and the option to create your own hero at the start.
2. Really good graphics.
3. Units come out in battalions of 10-15, or sometimes only 1-5, depending on how good the unit is.
4. It's great to play other people online.

Fireninja.... you seen AoE3? Its compareable to BFME2.

...Civilization III?
-
Get BFME2. Seriously, it's the best RTS out there, imo. So fun to use a troll to totally destroy a horde of orcs in one game, then in the next use your Mirkwood Archers to overtake the Gondorians. Oh, then the next one use your spiderriders/half-trolls to wyn the elves...
It's so wicked...I could go on and on about this game. Just, get it.

no, I had not seen it. That's pretty awesome, I'll have to try that. Did they ever come out with a new AoM3? I liked that game better. But that's pretty cool.

I tried the demo for AOEIII, and I liked it alot. The only problem was it made my old compy slow as crap...so I had to uninstall it. But I still like BFME2 alot better.
-
Rise of Nations and the expansion pack, you can pick both of them up for under $15, purely amazing and C&C 3 is good too
-
My son and I play Age of Empires II all the time, head-to-head via wireless. I downloaded the AoE III demo and I can't get my son off it, but you can't play multiplayer on the demo. FYI, the demo runs better on XP than on Vista (surprise, surprise).
We're both hoping that Santa brings us the full version of AoE III for Jesus' birthday. ;D
...Civilization III?
That is not real-time, it is turn-based.
-
Well I really have no idea what you guys are talking about. :P
-
I woned(gave it to a friend)AoEIII beat it like 5 times(way to easy) then had some fun with someridiculous cheats it took me a week to beat the two expansions and the game...not worth $40.00 but there's a starwars game that i forget the name of and its only $20.00 andits a bit longer and harder

AOE II = wyn
AOE III = fail
BfME = wyn

I believe you are referring to Star Wars Galatic Battlegrounds. It is an RTS. Not to mention, it is SUPER awesome IF you are a star wars fan. My vote goes to Age of Empires too. It is my favorite series (played it from beginning) next to SW battlegrounds.
-
SW galactic battle ground trial was my first RTS, I've been hooked ever since

RTS = Real Time Strategy
Real time games are constantly in motion with computer characters in action while you are in action. Turn-based games, like Civilization, everything stops until you are finished your turn, then your opponents decide their actions. Turn-based games let you stop and think about everything you want to do simultaneously. RTS games require quick-thinking and decisions.

Warcraft III, hands down.

Is it perhaps Empire at War and Forces of Corruption?
I was thinking of picking that up as they have a value pack.
