I am trying to make my first type two deck for a tournament this weekend. I am familiar with alot of strategies, offensive and defensive for type one. In type 1 it is not uncommon to run into large banding chains, green prophets, zeb, speed decks, the garden tomb, z's temple, sitelock, stand alone defenses, bayblonians, or phillistines, but I have no idea what exactly to expect in type 2. What are some of the most common strategies on offense and defense? Are there any staple cards for a type 2 deck.

Aocp Aocp Aocp and maybe some Aocp did I forget Aocp?

Is that really still true? A few years ago I would have believed it, but as a deck checker for a recent T2 tournament, I don't remember actually seeing any decks with AoCP. And it's not because they're not available here, as I know that Justin has (or maybe had) 15-20 of them once upon a time.

Dunno thats what it used to be. In California there isnt too many Type 2 Players so I dont really know lol (Kurt and Kramers im pointing at you)

There aren't very many AoCp decks in T2 since the addition of protection Forts. You'll find a lot of pre-block ignore, banding, choose the blocker, FBTN and play first on offense. On defense you'll find auto-blocks (like Uzzah), horses + end the battle, banding, FBTN and cannot be negated enhancements.

You sure you arent talking about Type 1 Gabe? ::)

So I assume Wall of Protection and Darius's Decree are in alot of type 2 decks then?

If they aren't, they should be. I recall hearing Tim Maly say something along the line of, "Every T2 deck should have 3 Darius' Decree'. I don't necessarily agree with that but it does emphasise the point. ;)

WoP is in the vast majority of T2 decks.
Darius's Decree will probably see quite some play.
CtB is huge in T2--remember to include something to stop it (best bet KotW).
Don't get overly dependent on captures as Blue Tassels is in a majority of decks.

Also, Combo decks thrive there, you really can't prep for um but just a warning.

What are some examples of commonly used CtB cards?

Provisions and Jacob+Obedience of Noah are the two biggies in T2, from my observation. Maybe Lamenting for Jephthah's daughter, but I don't know how common that is. King Amaziah can only be used once no matter how many copies you have, so I wouldn't think he is used very much.
One of the best anti-CtB cards is Kir. If you're worried about CtB, I would probably put a few of those in.

Kir seems like a good idea as does KoW. Wouldn't Wall of Protection help against CtB also?
My next concern is pre-block ignore. What are the most common cards used for this? I am assuming tgt and hidden treasures + spiritual warfare/burning incense

One I saw (defensive) was banding from brown to pg and visa versa to spam 2kh+FH/GTrick

That about sums it up for type 2. There are some combo decks, but mostly it's civilizations, cbn, and power offenses.
