Title: Splash black defense
Post by: Ironisaac on July 14, 2017, 02:10:11 PM
1   Red Dragon (RoJ)
1   Goliath (Promo)
1   Philistine Armor Bearer
1   The Priests of Zeus
1   The Chief Priests (RoJ)
1   Hymenaeus
2   Outsiders (Black/Gold) (RoJ)
2   High Priest Ananias (RoJ)
2   Demetrius the Silversmith
2   Philetus (PC)
2   Simon the Magician (Ap)

4   Seized by Rioters
4   Seek and Destroy
4   Wickedness of Delilah (I)
2   Plot to Kill (RoJ)
2   Abandonment (EC)

2   Unknown Nation

1   Burial (G)
1   Christian Martyr (H)
1   Falling Away (CoW)
1   Vain Philosophy (J)
1   Destruction of Nehushtan
1   Mayhem

Not much of a combo defense, just a bunch of really strong cards thrown together.
Couple fun things:
Demetrius the silversmith can grab unknown nation, so that's nice
Simon the magician is a heretic, so Hymenaeus can grab him.
RD can band to outsiders for double awesome.

Feedback welcome!

Really like this concept...I might swap a couple of the Wickedness of Delilahs for a couple Stone of Thebez and then put a few of the duplicate unique characters in the Reserve to add some Deceivers and a Lot's Wife to the main deck.

I do think you would need to pair it with a faster offense as there isn't much speed besides Outsiders (and that's dependent on the opponent having a couple good brigades in play).

What is, in your mind, a fast defense? I have a fast offense, but it only searches out the cards i need on offense. once i get that set up, there isn't a whole lot that can stop it. but it just leaves my defense in the dust and leaves it struggling to get any blocks and i end up giving away souls.

Defenses that have multiple ways to get potentially multiple extra cards per turn/block.

Some examples would be:

Pharisees: Proud Pharisee, Pretension, Damascus, Tenants Kill the Son

Babylonians: Dream, Swift Horses, Nebby, Bab Soldiers, Nimrod, Astrologers

Egyptians: Dreaming Pharaoh, Swift Horses, Egyptian Horses, Egyptian Magicians, Pharaoh's Baker, Broken Covenant (Pithom), 7 Years of Plenty

Those aren't the only "fast" defenses, just a few that come to mind right away. Obviously only a few of those cards are CBN/CBI and some (like Astrologers) aren't even guaranteed to get you an extra card, but the more options you include in the deck, the more likely you are to get some of them to work.

I will point out that Chief Priests, Hymenaeus, and Demetrius are all +1's to some extent.  And PoZ is card advantage through opponent's card disadvantage.

Why no Seize Him!s?  Even if you don't play it on one of the Sadducees, it's still a conditionless CBP battlewinner.

You have 4 interrupts. I forgot exactly what week and destroy does so I could be wrong, but I only see Seized. So in a meta of numerous battle winners, you give up initiative half the time and have a very limited amount of interrupts.

Plot to kill is a black/gray negate and discard a good card. But I agree and would like more interrupts. What would you recommend?

I would rather do Scattered/Lurking over 2xAbandonment
