Could Judges really be worth playing in T2? I think so!
-
Between the drawing, negating sites, searching, protection, and first turn protected hero's, I think this will be a solid choice for Type 2'ers this year. That doesn't even include the enhancements, or banding in Ahimelek! It's got options, which is what all top decks have.
-
Apparently Jordan thought they were worth playing last year. But yeah they will be sweet. As for the deck I really don't think ahimelek is going to be that useful for you because he can never be cbn. Or are you banking on your opponent playing david because red is going to be so popular?
-
Well I band in O.T. guys then follow it up with a hero that makes it a battle winner. They have to play a negate all or an interrupt. But they can't interrupt the band, they have to interrupt Ahimelek's SA, then I have a bunch of hero's in battle after that.

Yeah, basically regardless of whether or not you have anything to back them up, David (any version) & Ahimelek will be targeted, because of the potential they have together. So just splash Ahimelek in a deck that already has banding & people will freak out just because he is there.

BTW I think it is Angel Under the Oak.

A few Ehud's Daggers could be useful as well. Babylonians, Assyrians, and Kings of Israel will all be more popular this year, and all of these themes have kings that can be targeted by Ehud's Dagger. Plus, it can still take out the infamous KoT, as well as the Egyptian kings, Herods, and Kings of Judah.
You might want to add a King David, so that Samuel can pull him from deck to draw 2 - a gain of 3 cards, CBN. Plus Samuel + King David is a 15/15 CBN band, and King David would make Ahimelek CBN. Plus King David ignores so many evil characters (including some entire themes, and some don't have a way to stop preblock ignore) you might get some freebies with him.
-
I like your thoughts on King David. Are you sure Samuel can band to him though? I don't have the abilities in front of me atm but I didn't think that would work.
Great points about Ehud's Dagger too.
-
samuel searches for just 'david', so i believe he can get king david.
-
Master KChief is correct, but so is Gabe.
You can GET King David, but you can only band to a I Samuel hero. King David is a (no book?) hero.

According to the REG, King David has a I Samuel reference, but based on the AoCP/Matthew ruling, as well as the fact that David was never King in 1 Samuel, I would agree with Bryon.

Yep, my bad, I didn't read Samuel carefully enough. I guess the decision would be, do you go with King David to try and get early freebies? Or do you go with Red/Green David for a 14/7 CBN band?
Just for fun, I wanted to find the chances of getting King David in play on your first turn (and thus able to use him second turn), as this could walk through Kings of Israel/Romans/a few other themes early game. Assuming a 105 card deck with 2 hoppers and the heroes above (along with 1 King David), the chances of getting one of the angels (to search for Samuel), Samuel, or King David in your first 8 cards is 58.96%. So about 3 of every 5 games, you will have King David in territory on turn 1.
-
I think I'll do King David and David. Thanks JM.
-
Don't forget about King Saul for a possible 14/14 CBN band.
-
Yeah that's good, but is it worth taking out another hero for just a give away initiative band?
-
When has that ever stopped you before T?
