Title: CTB offense
Post by: Warrior_Monk on January 15, 2012, 05:19:29 PM
Here's what I have thus far. I'm thinking Unholy Writ x3, Holy Grail, Hidden Treasures x2, Magic Charms x3

And yes, I built this is 5 minutes. If I can pair it with a good stall, but unpopular defense brigade, it could work. Maybe. The silver gets by the Charms and Writs, the banding also helps. It's not insanely fast, but acceptably.

Good Cards: 41
Dominants: 5
Grapes
SoG
Angel
Guardian
NJ

Heroes: 21
TSA x2
Captain x2
Jacob x3
Joseph x2
Kira x2
Arianna x2
Anna x2
Cherubim x2
Angel Under the Oak x2
Rachel x2

Good Enhancements: 15
Provisions x4
Lamenting for Jepthah’s Daughters x4
Reuben’s Torn Clothes x3
Striking Herod x2
Wheel within a Wheel x2

So Troll.

I can't believe you actually put this together.

You need an answer to both Kir and Kingdoms. Can I suggest adding a small splash of Gold with Jair, Samuel and then using Angel with a Secret name to get around Kir, and Vengance of Eternal Fire to get around both.

I just really, really, liked the idea of using Lamenting for Jepthah's Daughters.

I was hoping the defense could take care of that. I could drop the Reuben's Torn Clothes and Striking Herods? Um...

Although this is true, there is another card that will cause you even bigger headaches than either of those.  Darius's Decree will stop your CTB cold.

Not 100% sure why AUtO is in there without judges.

Ummm.... I would use some OoN if you want to stay steady CTB instead of RTC.

Speed. He still draws 2.

I don't need that much CTB. As it is, I can choose 12 blockers. RTC gives me a bit more options. I go with Provisions instead of OoN because of the speed.

CwD is another valid concern.

AWtSN will negate the site issue.

Orange should work for you.

BLARG! Kevin Shride talked me out of using a very similar offense at Nations this last year on the basis that I had "Heroes with no abilities" in my deck, lol. Best of luck, I hope it catches people as off-guard this year as CTB would have last year!

I would rely mostly on Provisions, rather than Jepthah's Daughter. That being said, you might want to pull out Kira (2) to put in Tekoan Woman (2). She gets around UW and Charms also...

Black is pretty unpopular too.

Oh, now you're just getting really old school on us. Nice! I remember when she was a staple Hero in a green offense. :)

The way this deck wins is by setting all this up so fast, and never letting your opponent counter. Meaning don't give up initiative, or attack unless they get an EC that you gave them. Lamenting takes too long for a deck like this. Run straight Provisions, and if you are attacking and giving up inish, make sure it is Attending Angel and getting your provisions. Then run heavy Jacob's/RTC for first turn rescues before they can counter. By the time they can counter that, your Angels should have gotten your Provisions going. I'd recommend majority Genesis Egyptians on evil so you create lost souls, and draw. Throw in some random EC's for CTB, heck might as well do a King Amaziah. Streamline this deck, this many colors will take way too long to set up. By the time you set up a couple CTB RA's, the game will probably be over, or your opponent will be close to winning. Streamline the deck to less colors. Just Attending Angels, green hero's/Provisions, and some Genesis hero's and Jacob's with OoN/RTC.
