I really planned to keep and slightly update my Genesis/Roman deck for play at our locals, since I've been out of the loop for a year. However, once I got my new tin cards, I couldn't resist changing to an Egyptian defense. Having never played one, I'd like advice on what I've put in. I also feel like this deck may be missing a few support cards (artifacts/covs/curses/forts etc.) that I'm overlooking. I'm fairly confident in my offense, though comments are always welcome.
NOTE: This deck is 63 cards because I want to use 8 dominants and built it with the idea of the dom cap in mind. So I don't want to shave it down to 56 or less.
NOTE II: Don't worry about making this deck too competitive. It helps if you remind yourself just who you're helping to build this deck! (I'm more of a Booster Draft player than a T1.)

Mind giving us an idea on what you want, advice wise? You don't want us to make it too competitive, as it is right now, I mean you'll probably have fun... what kind of advice are you looking for? :)
But not matter what you're hoping for, Egyptian Magicians in for Pharoah Hophra.
-
Out:
Pharaoh Hophra
Abraham's Servant to Ur
King Shishak
Queen Taphanes
The Gods of Egypt
Spreading Mildew
Escape to Egypt
Beheaded
Ruthless
Egyptian Spear
In:
Egyptian Magicians
Wonders Forgotten
Failed Objective
Evil Spirit (K)
That leaves you at 57 cards with 8 Doms, still a fast deck, and a MUCH better defense.
-
Eve > Leah, imho.
-
Oops, missed that. Definitely Eve over Leah.
-
I want it to be competitive, but I'm not really worried about trying to win every tournament I play in. I'm sure other deck concepts work better, but I'm comfortable with this one, so I'm trying to make a decent tournament deck. In our tournaments, we get a few of the better players from the NE region, but also some newer and less experienced players. I want to be able to win some games. :)
Eve was my last cut for heroes. I've been going back and forth on Eve vs. Leah. I may have leaned toward Leah because it took me so darn long to get a copy of her for my original deck.
I appreciate all advice. Keep it coming! When I make changes, I'll repost with the new deck.

A couple of questions for Pol:
1. Your advice gives me a deck with 8 EC and 6 EE (plus the dual G/E). Is that enough of a ratio for defense?
2. Given the prevalence of TGT and Disciples decks, does the CBN ability on the Ki Evil Spirit make up for not being able to convert a NT hero?
All the cards you suggested to add are in my "under consideration" pile as late cuts, so I feel pretty good about possibly adding them. I am going back and forth on the final number of cards I want in the deck-maybe less than 63, but I might nudge over 57 for 1-2 more EEs. If I were to add 2, which 2 would you suggest?
-
My current T1 2-player defense consists of 7 ECs and 5 EEs (plus 2 dual alignment enhancements) and it seems to do fairly well.
-
1. That is a normal amount of defense in a 56 (57) card deck.
2. From my experience, neither TGT nor Disciples are prevalent anymore. However, even if there are still some around, Evil Spirit is a CBN win against the current most popular decks. It's probably the least useful EE in there with my recommendations, but it's still better than everything I recommended to take out.
57 is the best if you're wanting 8 doms, but if you must add two cards I'd suggest Beheaded and Dan. Actually, Dan should be in there regardless, I just missed it last time.
-
OK, while pulling cards together I came across Rizpah's Sackcloth. Would that be better than Failed Objective, since it also gets rid of all your opponent's cards in battle? Or maybe just add that one to the deck with FO?
-
Why don't you have Joseph? I find him to be great.
-
he's in there
-
You defiantly need to slim the defense. Try to make the deck 56 IMO.
-
I posted an updated version above. I went with 59 for now, adding Dan and Rizpah's Sackcloth without removing another card. That is subject to change. I like the idea of nudging just over the boundary to allow the 8th dom (under the proposed dom cap rule), but I'm just torn over dropping fully to 57 or keeping the extra two cards.
-
At this point, you're probably going to need to play with it a couple times to figure out what needs improvement.
-
he's in there
Wow missed him in the dual colored section.
-
Yeah, I'm waiting for my sons to finish revamping their decks so we can have a family tournament. :)
-
The way I understand the future dom cap is that you can have as many doms as you have LSs. The 57th card in a deck has to be a LS, which gives you 8, but once that 8th LS is in the deck you can swap a dom in for another card, so you don't actually have to get to 58, just 57.
Of course, the rule is still being discussed, polled, and debated, so who knows what the final version will be. I'm just trying to get ready.
-
I also thought about that, and have a few cards ready if I decide to go that way. I need some playtesting now.
I want to thank everyone who participates in these deck critiques. I've been playing Redemption since C/D and Warriors, but I always find I have a lot to learn. I appreciate the advice, and I do weigh it all, although in the end I have to make my own decisions. You all give me a lot to think about.
I might post a different deck later, just to get some more advice and learn more about working the cards together.
-
Forget about the dom cap for now. It isn't a rule atm so just play a 56 card deck.

I agree with red forget about it until legal. Now I'd keep it in mind of that in the future though but for now....... Go to 56.....for now.......
