What in your opinion is the best 16 card defense? I know this has been brought up before, but I wondered what people thought now that the new set is out.
-
I stand by my old word of Demons/Phillistines.
-
I would say at 16 cards that Babs would be the strongest defense.
-
I was thinking something like this...
Forts-2
Tower or
Philly outpost
ECs-7
Goliath
Garrison
Armorbearer
12-fingered Giant
Woman of Thebez
Abimelech
Lot's Wife
EEs-7
Devourer
Foolish advice or Bringing Fear
WoS
Fortify the Site
Land Dispute
Overwelmed by Phillys
Stone
Philly chariots and Horsies
This is actually 17 cards so I'd need to cut one.

Are you looking for 16 including arts and forts?

Ones specific to the themes yes, but not staple stuff like Writ.

Uzzah, Gomer, TAS, KoT, Sabbath Breaker, Haman's Plot, King Manny, Damsel W/ Divination, Magic Charms, 7 more cards of offense.

I'm still not convinced that standalone will be top dog this year. Everyone you listed except Gomer can be negated, and there's a lot of negation out there. Heck, even Gomer can be negated by a Prophets deck. I stand by the people who think a slightly larger defense is going to be better than purely offense heavy - a Covenant w/ Death would completely stone wall this defense.
-
I agree. A deck that's ready for that can easily take care of it. And with everyone using it, why not prep for it?
/Or was that your sinister plan all along? FOILED AGAIN! MUHAHAH!
-
Sinister plan, who me? ;) :P

I am curious, RDT, to see you back up your opinion. Not that I doubt your ability, but I haven't seen a solid argument for why you still feel so strongly.
-
Oh, I don't actually feel that strongly about it. This one was meant as a joke.
As a 6 card defense I simply don't feel you can make something that will consistently get blocks Even at 10, you're looking at 6 characters, 4 enhancements. It's because I don't think I'm going to get blocks that I'm playing it this way. Uzzah is still one of the best EC's in the game, And even with the influx of Captain bands, Isaiah+Call, etc he still usually nets be a block a game. Haman's Plot is still one of the best enhancements in the game, especially since we seem to be shifting back to more O.T. offenses, which means no Herod's Temple protection, Discard 3 dudes, CBN, yes please. The rest of the defense is inconsequential, Sabbath Breaker might as well be listed with the offence, all he is is a D3 that I get on your turn. I've been playing the defense for 3 years, and I've only ever gotten a block with him once. If he's in battle I'm probably okay giving up the soul. He does draw AoTL somewhat frequently though, oddly enough, It's probably because people are worried about False Peace. Gomer+KoT is extremely hard to get through early game (1-2 turns) And even mid game there's only a few offenses that can get past them without Dominant backup (Red, Purple, Gold are the 3 that come to mind, others can, but its harder) Plus KoT sets up Plot nicely by taking out Joe and Co's protections. TAS is another one of those cards that's an evil card that should be listed with the offence, he's LS generation, and a + 1 search. (Usually to Uzzah for a block) This year I've found room in a lot of my decks for Damsel, Manny and Charms, which is awesome, but not really necessary, since there's so much protection from capture. Damsel is a nice draw option though, and Manny can do some number manipulation with KoT for initiative for Plot.

I'd say that it say probably Egyptians.
