Title: How to speed up this offense (Clay Jerusalem Missionaries)?
Post by: Reth on May 12, 2019, 02:15:30 PM
Hi there,

any ideas how to speed up the following offense?

Claudia (PC)
Ethiopian Treasurer (EC)
Nicanor (EC)
Parmenas (EC)
Peter (EC)
Philip the Evangelist (EC)
Prochorus (EC)
The Watchful Leaders
Timon (EC)
Polycarp (RoJ)

Four-Drachma Coin

Claudia should bring in speed in pulling out all other heroes. Four Drachme Coin is already in as well as Nicanor to slow down opponent and benefit from his/her draw. Basic idea is banding and bringing in Treasurer and Parmenas later into battle by playing several interrupts.

Hints and any helpful tips (also besides speedup) are highly welcome. (If wanted I can also post the GEs I currently have in this offense.)

Thanks in advance

Bye

Paul (promo) will give you a D2 when you band him into battle. You can speed a deck up "generically" with cards that fit into any deck and give you a + 1 (or more)

Treacherous Land
Lost Soul cards - "Prosperity", "Lawless", "Darkness", "Exiles" and "Remnant"

Faith of Samuel is a GE with clay that can get you a D3.

No Stephen? Him plus Peter and Polycarp gives you three martyrs for Blood of the Lamb.

Thanks guys, these are great tips - some of these are already in. Currently deck is paired with a Roman Hand reducing defense but its horribly slow and fails all the time.
Will post the complete current deck list later on. Maybe you have some further advice.

Stephen is currently not in since all are either decons or Jerusalem (or can be made to Jerusalem) and are able to band to each other. This is also the reason why Paul isn't in yet. Whom would you adice to cut for Paul and Stephen?

And also any advice for defense?

Try pharisees if you want a fast defense

I know I’m double posting but you could add gifts of the magi, Phillips daughters and Hur. If your running Faith if Samuel and maybe one more green enhancement.

Faith of Abel is a very underrated card.

Hand control works best if you’re “all in”, meaning that you attack the hand not just on defense but on offense too. The most obvious pairing to do that is blue, but as mentioned above Philip’s Daughters can do that in clay. I don’t recall off hand if there are other clay cards to help that strategy.

That style defense tends to be larger (at last when it’s effective).

Thanks a lot guys!

That's right - Hand Control should be run at offense and defense. After I read the Red/Purple Hand Control article I might try this together with Romans. For this offense I might pair it with my Pharisae/Sadducee defense (but which is also very huge ATM - in an earlier version I also had some Greek in in order to get 3 ECs which get rid of a Hero while they are entereing battle, 2 of them CBN).

For this thread I wanted to concentrate on that particular offense. I will work in your suggestions given to speed it up and see where it goes. Thank you again!

Further tips are still always welcome!

Colossae is probably best for straight clay speed, consistency-wise.
