Title: Disciples/Pharisees
Post by: Chronic Apathy on March 26, 2011, 01:08:33 PM
I know that this deck is very similar to that in this thread (http://www.cactusgamedesign.com/message_boards/index.php?topic=25548.0), but I'm trying to do some different things with it, and I didn't want to derail his thread. Also, I didn't even know that that thread was there until after I'd been using this deck for a while, so I want to assure both the OP of that thread and anyone else that I didn't plagiarize or steal the deck in any way. Now then, I've been playing this deck with six extra cards (Chariot of Fire, Crown of Thorns, Pharisees, The Garden Tomb, Ethiopian Treasurer, and Doctrine Like Leaven), and I'm considering just bumping up the deck to 56 cards, maybe adding an additional card to add speed (such as Gifts of the Magi), taking out Doctrine Like Leaven and letting that be that. Thoughts on this? Otherwise, I'd like to just add Crown of Thorns and Chariot of Fire.

   James Son of Zebedee
   James, Son of Alphaeus

I don't really see that defense doing anything.

I'd run a boring standalone defense. And take out Sent Two by Two.

The defense is good for a few turns. Entrapping Pharisees works well to make my opponent discard an enhancement or two, and Proud Pharisee is good to draw and play first (for Balaam's Disobedience). Scribe recurs BD at least once, which is useful for obvious reasons. Unholy Writ and Christian Martyr are good for support as well. The defense is weakest against heroes that can't be captured, but is still strong enough to survive 5-6 turns easily enough, which is usually plenty. If I don't have my Disciples set up by then, I'm usually not going to win anyways.

You just happened to be the first Disciples player I'd played with. =)

In my deck,  I'd run Raiders Camp and the 4 Capture Cards and just keep pulling them back w/ Scribe and use Proud to play them again.

It's really fun!

On the Doms-you might consider tossing Falling Away and adding Mayhem. In the tours at Texas, more and more people have GOYS. Once they draw that card,Falling Away is useless. Mayhem is great about reseting the hands you and your oppontants have.

Your right many people do play guardian but that doesn't mean fa shouldn't be decked. The way I look at it is that FA has to much potential to not be decked.

Almost every top 3 deck in T1-2P at Nationals the past several years agrees as well. ::)
