how many of them allow your opponent to chose the LS from your deck though? If your opponent gets to chose, I bet they won't chose the one that gives you an EC...

That depends. If your choice is Liner, Dull, Forsaken, Escape, etc is there really a better choice?

I find Darkness creating ECs mostly happens when you draw it while having none.

That was the primary intent--basically a way to improve the chances that a player will have a first turn blocking option.
