Hi, I'm fairly new to the game and have the most recent print copy of the rulebook, but it seems that there are differences between its guidelines for building type II decks and those posted on the boards. I was wondering if the same might be true for Type I. Can anyone give me the most up-to-date set of Type I Deck Building rules? Thanks

the most recent edition is right for all T1 guidlines I am sure. T2 has had lots of changes though.

The only difference I recall for T1 is the new(ish) limit on Dominants. Your deck can only contain as many Dominants as you have Lost Souls.

here is a new playing rule though. No mayhem on the first turn. just letting you know.

This is just a correction that may be important.

Not a rule but I personally like my decks fifty two or fifty three because you get those few extra cards for D and it creates small soul drought more often. (Over a span of many many many games but you get what I mean)

thanks guys. Yeah I saw the new(ish) rules changes, but it's always good to be reminded. Don't have so many Dominants yet anyway (just got a gift set for Christmas and bought a few extra boosters) so not too worried about that atm. Just finished trying my hand at building two new Type I decks from my limited library, hope to playtest them somewhat soon. Not expecting spectacular results, just a fun game with my wife. :)
and thanks for the advice KingLeo. I'm actually trying that out atm with one of my two decks at 55 cards (it's got a fair amount of search and draw special abilities though) and is exploring a card advantage strategy where I have lots of cards the force opponent discards/removal from hand and deck (and discard pile) while allowing replays of my own. We'll see how it plays against my defensive conversion deck.

Mayhem doesn't WORK in the first round. It may still be played (which is almost always not useful, but still possible). If you throw down a Mayhem first round, it COUNTS as being played (particularly in tournament play) even though it does nothing. The errata states that "If it is not the first round, then..." or something to that effect. It is an important difference and I have seen it happen since the rule change.
