What is the reason you play Redemption? what attracted you to this game? Just curious.

Blessings,
Daniel

I play because it's the best game besides Magic (not saying Magic is better, they're on the same tier imo), you don't have to spend a fortune every time new cards come out, and I like most of the people I see at tournaments.

+1 The people I get to hang with that I normally wouldn't. Scheaf, Pol, Colin, Daniel w., etc.
Oh and my love to abuse any game system which the no banned cards allows me alot more options with it. Yugioh's banned list changes so often its crazy.

Fun and fellowship. Cause I love the strategy, I love the people that play the game, and I like healthy fun laid back competition.

I enjoy the Redemption community, fellowship, strategies, competition, family friendly game play, I can share with non-believer gamers and non-gamers, I can share with Christian gamers and non-gamers, the Biblical background it teaches with scripture, tournaments, meeting new people/players, and all the whoopie-wows and whizz-dings that come from being part of something so great.

Godspeed,
Mike

I was introduced to redemption by a "random" person at my school. He gave me a few cards told me a little bit about the game. I was interested and later I went to a redemption mini camp, that was 4 years ago

(the "random" person was The Hobbit 13)

I play for the community and the fun.  I play Redemption over other TCGs because it has a Christian base which makes the game more enjoyable.

Well i like it because it's fun...  :P
And i'm so sick of all the other card games like Yu-gi-oh and magic.
And if you get non Christians into the game it's a good way to help them become Christians.

The game simply is one if not the best tcg I have ever played, there are so many awesome strategies and the tournaments are super fun. Oh, and most of the people are really fun to hang out with especially here in the southeast.

I was going to start this as a thread and then found that it already existed.  So here it is:

Top 10 reasons I love Redemption (not necessarily in order)
1 - The Biblical basis for the game
2 - Rob Anderson, whose generosity and focus on fun and fellowship are awesome.
3 - The great players.  People like Gabe, Arp, Kirk, and Maly.  They win and exemplify Christ doing it.
4 - The great leaders.  People like Reyzen, Bryon, Berkenpas, and Schaef.  They invest themselves as a ministry.
5 - The great sellers.  People like Ken, Michalizn, and Brad.  They keep the game at prices where everyone can play.
6 - Old friends who I've reconnected with through the game.  People like Jon and Archibald.
7 - New friends who I've made through the game.  People like Brian Reid (RIP) and too many others to list.
8 - My local playgroup who I get to teach the game and play with regularly, and who do better in Bible class as a result.
9 - The strategy of the game that keeps me having to think, and react, and learn.
10 - The forum, where I get to talk about deep things (and hopefully impact some lives), fun things, and learn new ideas.

Bonus - Hopefully someday this last one will be getting to play with my kids, but they're a bit young at this point :)

Originally I started playing because some of my friends from church played.  Now none of them do, and I don't really play anymore besides going to Nationals.  The only reason I didn't just quit is because of the community.

As for aspects of the game itself...idk, apart from the Biblical basis.  Redemption was really the only TCG/CCG I actually played, I've played some others but never owned cards.

I originally got the card from my mom when I was like six or something. When I found out my buddy Nicky played, I re-met Daniel (Polarius) and we started playing Redemption like every week. Now, it's just what we do. On top of that, I get to hang out with all of the [k]razy people.

The reason I play this is because there are a bunch of different strageties and the game could win a bunch of different ways. Also, it has lots of meaning. Another reason is the baning of lots of cards like in other TCG's (Not gonna mention names Yu-Gi-Oh!) lol I played that for years and it was a great TCG but it kept changing and was so monopolized. That is what makes this different. You can have like 100's of strageties and have different outcomes each time. I love that. Makes you wanna try harder

I found this game mainly just because I loved collecting cards since I was young, but my dad thought that my Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh cards were "The Devil," so he found Redemption for me about five or six years ago and bought me my first starter deck. So I started collecting, and I learned the rules of the game from a friend, and I started going to tournaments, and now it's pretty much built into my system. :)

The reason I play redemption is because me and my brother were not allowed to Magic the Gathering by our parents. So we looked for a game that might fit our parents guidlines and that is when we found Redemption in 1995. I am so glad that we found Redemption we have had more fun playing and collection these cards.

Now that this has been necro'd up, I thought I'd mention that I passed on the top of the class in my first college Bible course without reading the textbook once because of Redemption.

Yeah, it's like, every Redemption player knows the Northern and Southern dynasties; all we have to do is use the "who discards who" to put them in order.

ok, i'v gone quiet from this thread long enough

how i got started in this game:
for those of you who don't know
i first knew about the game after my brother got me a copy of E/F starters for my birthday in 2004 and didn't learn how to play til april 2005
throughout that time i'v been trying to learn but i'v mostly been taking my cards out and look at the cards and put them back in the box
before going to my first local tournament hosted by Pol and Colin was there and i'm only naming a couple guys who'v recently been active here on the redemption forums

the reasons i play are:

this game is christian and can help kids to bible study through playing

this game can seriously be a replacement for games like "Magic the Pagan card game(AKA MTG)" and yu-gi-oh, and possibly pokemon

the people i'v met through this game which are too many to mention but to name a few who'v watched my back: Gabe, Mike, Mark, Marti, Michael (Quad-Man), and of course Josh Kopp also known as RR

i keep telling myself if "this"or "that" doesn't happen i'll quit redemption and always end up not quitting cause let's face it, i'm stuck in this game and no chance or plan of quitting this game completly cause i think this game means more to me then i'll understand.

the amount of strategies out there i can choose to play even though i'm currently working out my stratgies in single brigades

and this game does what no other card game can do:

tell a bible story through cards and teach others of the bible and the characters and tell why the characters are what they are: like lot is a hero and his wife is an evil character.

i mean who would quit this game is beyond me.

and i just wish TN would have more tournaments so i can hear the sounds of announcments of layers calling their moves and of cards slapping on the table of em being played and the excitement that's filled in the air as the tournament itself is about to get underway or in progress.

For my 300th post, I'd like to share why I play Redemption.

I've played a lot of different trading card games. I've even gotten playtesting credit for one before. None of them have ever been able to rival Redemption when it comes to strategic depth. From the deckbuilding rules, to the different brigades, to the multitude of card types, to the way that new sets build upon previous sets rather than replace them, Redemption is a strategist's dream-come-true.
Secondly, as is pretty typical, I love the biblical aspect of Redemption. I owe my discovery of Redemption to a priest working at a seminary that I would later attend. Suffice it to say that my relationship with God is the central aspect of my life, but that's not the only reason why the biblical aspect is so important to me. It is exceedingly difficult to create something for entertainment purposes that is faith-based, accessible, and well-made. With that said...
My biggest reason for playing Redemption is how astonishingly well-designed it is. Yeah, it had a bit of a rocky start, but the very idea behind Redemption is brilliant. The game of Redemption has achieved something absolutely incredible: it enables biblical scenarios to be translated into playable cards that reflect the nature of what they represent remarkably well. Furthermore, it takes the reality of spiritual warfare and depicts it in a way that is both truly serious and truly epic. Making a faith-based game that isn't mere trivia while remaining engaging and entertaining is an incredible feat. Redemption is nothing short of a work of art.
While Christians have come a long way in creating respectable faith-based entertainment, especially in the area of music, it remains so easy to slip into the sheer lameness that many have come to expect of Christian media. It makes faith and religion look so silly, childish, and laughably ill-equipped to guide this generation, much less the next. Works of art like Redemption stand athwart this misconception. Redemption is firmly, inescapably, and unapologetically Christian. It is simultaneously a trading card game with a well-toned card layout, magnificent art, fascinating game mechanics, and provoking themes distributed amongst a wide array of brigades and card types. This is a remarkably well-designed game.
It has been, and will always be, an honor to participate in this work of art with all of you.
Thank you, Mr. Anderson. May this game and its players never cease to give praise and glory to God with the spirit of holy leisure that Redemption so passionately fosters.
