Is there any defense that can stop Isaiah?? Cause at this point I can't beat him. And many others can't. I need an answer quick. I am trying to build a new deck.

Herods work great against Isaiah.

Like what are the strategies and how. What cards work with what, and What type of combos am I trying to draw and use. I also need to know what type of cards would go in a Herod Defense. I've tried it before, but it was so long ago.

Herod the Great and Archaleus are proabably two of the best characters. They work great against banding heroes. Also, Herod Agrippa II, Salome, Herodias and Herod's Dungeon can work great. I'm sure their are some herod defenses under type 1 deck advice that you can look at to get ideas. Household Idols is usually a great card against Isaiah offenses also.

Most of the Herods are Cannot Be Prevented.

Give it up Chris ;)

Haha

Anyways Herod's are a good choice because of access to beheaded. (which I played against John the Baptist once  ;D just sayin)

But my choice for an Isaiah deck would be an
Inishative based D. Im saying play with little guys and the best little guys right now are the Canaanites. Woman of Thebez and Lots Wife can throw millstones at Isiah and you can use Canaan to capture him from territory.

Your other verry good option is magicians/Assyrians simply because of acess to forgotten history which can take care of your Isaiah problem for good.
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

Use Black to kill Isaiahmaiah.
  • Stone of Thebez makes Isaiah decks sad.
  • Devourer (Warriors) is great for blowing up WWW and Isaiah's Call.  And if you're playing Black right, you won't give them a chance to negate it.
  • If they're playing King Hezekiah, then it's your lucky day!  When he comes in banded to Isaiah, throw down some Wrath and Hunger to your heart's content.  Since Hezzy is protected, you don't pass initiative until you get too big (and you could even Stone before then).
  • They have some good low numbers characters (Fallen Warrior, Woman of Thebez, Lot's Wife, Lot's Daughters, Gibeonite Delegates), and characters in that brigade have great abilities anyway.
  • Joseph in Prison.  They'd better have one of their only enhancement-negaters in hand or bye-bye forever Isaiah.
  • Pride of Simon is just mean when you have all that goodness already.
  • Jezebel.  Works great in Tower, but if you use her right (especially in T2, when their angels will get bigger), you can remove Isaiah from the game without giving an opportunity to negate it.
  • Goliath.  Not as big of a fan in general, but Isaiah decks get crushed by him.  If they aren't using a good deal of prophet support, they won't be able to counter him easily.

Also a Babylonian deck can wreak some havoc on Isaiah, Nergalsharezer can make OT enhancement CBN and is 7/7 (giving him initiative) or alternatively you can use Babylonian Horses and play Nebuchadnezzar's Pride to set him aside for 4 turns.

It won't necessarily win you the game, but an Isaiah deck without Isaiah isn't very powerful and 4 turns can buy you a significant amount of time.

My T2 Isaiah deck really only ran into trouble against a Babylonian defense and a very well tuned Egyptian/Herod defense at the last tournament I played in (although I only lost to the Babylonian one)
If you are reading this signature, thank a physicist.

Really, in terms of absolute strength Isaiah can be defeated by any half-decent defense easily. The trick is that Isaiah is wicked-fast to set up, so in real terms,  the answer is any non-meta defense in a fast deck. The beauty of Isaiah is that he murders the Meta-defense, but the downside is that he gets murdered in turn by a balanced or defensive deck (appropriately constructed to be fast). I predict the winner of Natz will be the Gardenciples (or perhaps Sam) player that encounters the fewest Isaiah decks.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

The best def against Isaiah is a very fast offense. Not much else can slow down a well-built Isaiah deck. Unless you get a great draw with a Turtle deck.

If you get Isaiah or his call in discard pile once just use burning up the chaff and problem solved. The good thing about Isaiah is what others stated plus he keeps coming back.

Philistines with Stone is great vs Hezzy- Isaiah... Overwhelmed on fallen warrior kills Isaiah CBN (purple in battle), stone kills Hezzy.

An Isaiah deck will most likely have CoF.

Cheribum + Isaiah or Isaiah's Call. ::)

I'm curious to know why you think balanced decks beat Isaiah so efficiently. From what I've seen, balanced decks are probably the worst match-up against an Isaiah deck because Isaiah + fellows will probably be set up way before any other balanced deck.

If you want to beat an Isaiah deck, just use Hezzy's Signet Ring. :P

Here's the thing, when they are set up, what are their numbers?  They're coming at you with Seraph with a Live Coal (6/6) banded to Isaiah (6/6).  If you block with someone less than 6/6, it doesn't matter if that EC is negated.  You can play many different mean, nasty enhancements without passing initiative, and the number of negates the deck can use are limited.  Of course, the whole point is that you don't give them a chance to negate it.  You get rid of Isaiah in a manner you find easiest and then 'die' to the numbers.  My favorite is capturing him and then allowing him to be redeemed.  Now your opponent is in a lot of trouble.

Pol mentioned that the balanced deck has to be appropriately constructed to be fast. Certain defenses are decently fast (Romans/Pharisees mix that can include Vittles, Sabbath Breaker and PPharisee, as well as NC&H; Egyptians; or just a defense that pairs well with a fast offense). All a defense needs to do to beat Isaiah is have a few CBN/CBI battle winners, and a few good character abilities that are CBN/CBP.

A turn one or two Isaiah+Call (really easy with Wheel to get Seraph to get Call, or some combo) will shred a meta-defense. A full defense that gets a good draw complete with some nice enhancements will beat Isaiah just based on the fact that he gives away initiative like candy at a parade.

The only Isaiah decks with CoF are the slow ones. And a slow Isaiah deck is a dead Isaiah deck.

I agree with some of this.  Herod's Dungeon wouldn't work because with Isaiah's Call Isaiah would negate the site.  But there are a few Herod's that CBN.  So it's nice!
