The Seven Standard Doms

Now that Redemption has two more evil dominants, I am curious what everyone thinks the most popular set of 7 Doms will be. I have seen Vain Philosophy in almost every deck I have played with and against since the new cards were released online, which is somewhat unexpected. When we designed it, we had no idea how popular it would end up being, if it could earn a spot in peoples' top 7 or not in most decks. It seems for most people (at least most people I have played online) that is has done just that.

Here's the seven that I would choose, with changes depending on deck strategy:

SoG
NJ
AotL
Grapes
Mayhem
Vain Philosophy
CM

I'd keep FA over CM (unless there's a lampstand in the deck).

I don't have a standard 7, but I have a standard 4 that are always in all my decks, with the last 3 depending on deck strategy:
SoG
NJ
AotL
CM

Grapes is a 5th slot in most of my decks but there are some that I've elected not to include it in.

Offense Heavy:
SoG
NJ
AotL
Grapes
CM
Mayhem
(VP or Don)

I'm not sure on VP yet. Needs more testing.

Defense Heavy:
SoG
Grapes
CM
FA
Mayhem
Don
VP
(AotL alternate if needed)

Balanced:
SoG
NJ
AotL
Grapes
Mayhem
CM
VP

What happens when you draw SOG first turn?

I make them play Judas' Thievery and give them my SOG, then play LAFS to shuffle it into my deck, discard my SOG with GOH, attack with AaT (the CBN version of AatT), then play Birth Foretold (on AaT.)

It is now my goal in redemption to see someone play Judas' Thievery in a multiplayer game, to then play 4 SoGs in a row.

I guess for me its hard to teach a old dog new tricks... I have been running the same 7-8 doms for years.

If I am using all seven...
SoG
AotL
CM
FA
NJ
Goys
DoN

As of the last couple of years I have been running under seven doms in my decks...
SoG
AotL
CM
DoN (or FA depending on the deck)

Looking at hands is already insanely powerful and sought after in many high-powered decks.  Add the ability to underdeck any good card in that hand, which at certain points in the game likely includes SoG as they wait for NJ (or you can get rid of the battle-winner they counted on when they pushed into battle), just makes it a staple to me.

Once was Doubt + CM. Once was Doubt + Gates + KOT. Once was in multi with nothing else. Although I didn't actually block with it for that last one, someone else did.

My type 1 decks usually have 112 cards first 56 cards is 7 souls, and 56 for next 8 souls means technically if there were enough doms (and there may be, i'm not familiar with the latest cards) I could technically put 15 doms in my deck right?

you can have as many dominants as lost souls that count for deck building rules.  (hopper does not count)

You could have 15 doms in a 112 card deck, but a 112 card deck is non-standard; I gave a list of seven, since a standard deck size is 50-56 cards.

Professoralstad,

I understand that, my type 1, 112 card deck usually decks out when someone is halfway through their standard deck.  I haven't played it in a few years, but I intend to rebuild it and refine it.  Thanks for the clarification.

I'm not sure how this is possible with the 16 card hand limit rule.  Unless by "deck out," you mean that you've already discarded half of it with Gates of Hell.

It was a pre-Angel Wars deck.  When did the 16 card hand limit rule go into effect? A lot of the characters are down on the table at that point, a lot of enhancement cards are in Storehouse, a lot of enhancements may be in the discard pile at that point in time yes, all 15 lost souls (i don't play with hopper) have been drawn, and are in the field of play (unless some have been rescued at that point in time).  The deck doesn't have many if any sites because there are two many souls for that to be an effective strategy. At the end of every turn i would have eight cards or less in my hand unless Tables of the Law is active in which case I have ten or less cards in my hand.  Deck out as I understand it means no draw pile left, please correct me if that is an incorrect assumption on my part.  Most 50 - 56 card decks don't deck out in six turns to eight turns, but if I had 15 or less cards in my hand at any time for six turns to eight turns, I could potentially deck out since the 112 card deck -15 Lost Souls only leaves me with 97 non souls cards to draw.  I'll have to read up on Gates of Hell, that sounds interesting, like I said this was a pre-Angel Wars built deck, but typically I didn't have more than 16 cards in my hand at any one time, but game after game people were surprised that I was decking out against their 50-56 card decks.  As soon as I have a few more sets organized, i'm going to try to rebuild the deck and refine it further.

Since the Dom cap, yes. Either there are more Dom's that are more powerful and influential, or artifacts are completely negligible towards some offensive themes to necessitate the need for artifact removal. However, some themes still rely on DoN as a staple; there are so many hard counters against FbtnB that it still needs the extra spot removal found in DoN.
