It's been awhile since I've seen an Ambush T2 deck at a competitive tournament.  I saw three at Nats 2005.

So now that we've has some new sets, what do you think is a really good hero to be set aside with Ambush?

Ambush
Type: Hero Enh. • Brigade: Red • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Set aside a male Hero (face down) from your hand for one turn. Hero returns to territory face down. Hero enters battle face down with access to any site. When opponent presents an Evil Character in battle, Hero is flipped face up. • Play As: Set aside a male Hero (face down) from your hand for one turn. Hero returns to territory face down. Hero enters battle face down with access to any site. When opponent presents an Evil Character in battle or chooses not to block, Hero is flipped face up. • Identifiers: OT, Depicts a Weapon • Verse: Joshua 8:2

Final ANB errata: Return player to game.

well, you could do someone like Seraiah the High Priest, with a Z's Temple out.

Z's Temple wouldn't improve your situation at all since Seraiah is a Solomon's Temple High Priest/

Eric used lots of FBN heroes in his Ambush T2 deck with multi-color enhancements.

I'd say any init hero, any large fbtn hero, any hero with a nasty ability that happens to blockers.

Widow or Zebulun might be a nice surprise.

Would an Ambush deck that utilizes CtB be viable? I'm asking because I haven't delved into CtB much, so I don't have much knowledge of its viability in this type of deck.

There isn't too many CTB abilities that aren't set asides though.

point being, they think it's a Z temple priest, and they block with somebody, then find out you have unlimited inish. not sure what'd you do with it though...

Seraiah the High Priest does work, however, if they are playing Babylonians...

Widow wouldn't work because Ambush specifies male.

Seraiah or Nahari with Ram's Horn active would be a good combo.

Spy/Ahimaaz would be good since you would know what they have to play on the EC they are blocking with and could choose to withdraw.

Banding Heroes (Tribal Elder) are nice cuz then you can bring in whichever Hero would benefit you most.

In my original Ambush deck, I used ET, FBTN, and Spies as the main characters that I "hid." The first time I Ambushed a FBTN character and my opponent had no idea what was coming, so he blocked low. Needless to say, 8/8 vs. 1/1 FBTN didn't work for him. Second time, I whipped out a Spy (or Seraiah now) and he blocked high, so it was good for me.

The biggest problem I faced was playing someone from GA at Nats and he was using a Pale Green defense. Both PotW and Frog Demons (Wa) got blocks because I couldn't stop their immunity when I flipped up ET.

But now with Teal, Seraiah/Ahimaaz have great benefits with the enhancements associated with them. I would still use some FBTN and MC enhancements are always a surprise when they think you don't have any back-up.

As far as CTB goes with Ambush, it doesn't work. I originally used this and then it was ruled that a face-down character is out of play and can't be targeted by Provisions. But there's no advantage to put Ehud under Ambush, because you could've chosen who you wanted to begin with.

Any character who has an ability that would help after they block instead of before they block are good for Ambush. Spy/Ahimaaz for example. They block, then you look at their hand and see if you're ok. Because if you attacked and stayed, they could've blocked with someone else and been a different battle.

Hope that helps.

Jacob.  You can band or play a Genesis enhancement.
Banding heroes like Mentor, you can band in something like ET or a FBTNB character (Mentor/Claudia/Simeon/CotH or something).
FBTN Heroes like TSA
Initiative Heroes like Mephibosheth, Seraiah and Naharai
And as Mr. Largent said, basically anything that can help you after a block.

Add Urim and Thummim to give yourself even more of an advantage.  You know their hand, their territory and your hero, and they know nothing!
