Title: Medium in Endor
Post by: Unnamed on September 21, 2016, 09:56:26 AM
King Saul/Medium in Endor/Holy Grail or Stalks of Flax = CBP block on single hero (barring doms), or if say Josh/Captain, can take out enhancement hero and make cbp enh practically cbn.

Medium is an underrated EC for sure.  If your opponent is playing a splash offense and you have HHI active or manage to get rid of their banding heroes, Medium can lock an opponent out.  Just having Medium as an option alongside other tough ECs like KoT, Doeg, Gomer, etc. can really mess with your opponent's ability to make a strong rescue.

Sorry for ressurecting this: But how should this lockout work? Since the exchange always has to happen? Even more the SA of the Hero put into battle also gets activated. Or what did I miss?

It's not a lockout strategy by any means, but still good blocks. I would usually run both but if I had to pick I prefer complainers because they are a better block against justin martyr. Block, negate the searching and drawing, then switch him out for his angel friend.

Sometimes players will use an 'unusable hero' just for its ability (often territory class - like Music Leader in a red deck) that they have either zero or very few good enhancements for.  In those cases you can keep switching whichever hero they send into battle with the 'unusable hero', even exchanging it out of discard pile after you discard it.  Your opponent is then locked out of the game if they have nothing to get around this exchange.

Probably the hero I've targeted the most with Medium is Angel of the Winds.  I've literally won games because of AotW in non-Silver decks.

How did you keep AotW in battle instead of him exchanging for another hero? HSR? Covenant with Death?

Opponent was decked.

Medium is like the EC version of Watchful Servant.  Sometimes players get decked before they get to 5, and that's a scary place to be if your opponent has Medium in play and you don't have any ways to deal with her left.
