Title: Making Them Pure Hero Deck Without Their Consent
Post by: Ironica on April 06, 2009, 03:07:18 PM
I am making a deck for one of the players in my playgroup.  He has told me what he wants and I am trying to build the best deck with the cards I have.  His defense is crinsom/orange.  For his offense, he wanted one brigade and the main part of his offense is conversion.  Since this is the first time having the main focus on coversion, what is the best brigade to use this method with?

Gold, hands down.

Especially get the Gold RoA tin. Some nice CBN and conversion stuff.

I'll check out what gold I have.

I also forgot to mention that most if not all of the cards will be pre FOOF (due to the ones I have of FOOF and ROA are already in use).

If I were doing conversion, I would go green; you have St. Patty (who is now a prophet!), Sowing the Seed, Rhoda with I Am Patience, and for battle-winners you have New Priestly Duty and Repentance. You could go with a prophet/NT theme; I've tried something like this before and it worked well. Especially now with St. Patrick being a prophet, I think I might try this out again....

I'm not so sure that St. Patrick was ever officially ruled upon. Link?

And also considering that I do not have him....

I checked out my gold and found one or two converts.  I'll check out green when I have the chance (and I was going to have I Am Patient in the deck no matter what brigade I used).

Repentence and restitution, sanctifying faith, new creation, fishers of man, amazing miracle(the other roa one), and I think one other one. Then you have [edited by R.O.S.E.S].

Rob himself ruled Saint Patrick both as a prophet and a priest. It doesn't get any more official than that.  ;)

Yeah... and then you can capture their evil characters with your babylonians.  ;D

And I forgot preaching the truth and battle prayer to get one back... that's like... 7?  :)

I had a conversion deck prior to the tins but the tins make gold a strong conversion color.  If you don't have the Soldier/Seeker promos, that doesn't help either.  But I strongly recommend mixing in Lazarus, to give you one more Hero to play converts on, and to make it easier to pull in convert cards from other brigades (red's The Empty Tomb being the big example, but also maybe the occasional green or blue card that gold can't use).

The Empty Tomb frees Heroes from Potter's Field; I think you mean Power of the Cross.

I have a Blue/Gold/Red conversion deck, and it doesn't do too badly.  It isn't as good as my Z-Temple deck, and I don't think I'd use it in a tourney (just 'cus I couldn't make it good, not 'cus it isn't a good theme).  The ENTIRE deck is built around conversion - once I get RTS up, I'd like to face someone with it.
