Title: I need Speed!
Post by: LukeChips on October 24, 2014, 09:53:40 AM
Which good/evil brigade/theme is the fastest in a T1 deck? I was using my deck and found it was so slow! What should I do.

Disciples/Pharisees is probably the fastest around.  Egyptians are also a fast D in general, and Prophets/Babs work together and have a good amount of searching and draw to run through the deck.

Does TEC count as disciples?

Does TEC count as disciples?

While there are Disciples in TEC, I was referring to the Purple group from the Disciples set.  Matthew, 4 Drachma Coin, Reach, Pentecost, Fishing Boat, Loaves and Fishes, and Miraculous Catch are all options for some speed, and they gained more speed with Reassuring Angels pulling them from deck.

I remember reading once about a deck that, with the right draw, could deck out in two turns. I can't remember exactly what it was, but I think it was a variation of the Deck that relied heavily on AUtO/Sam.

Judges Phillistines is not as fast as the others, still very fast though, but can use the search abilities to get key cards out mostly before Naz gets out.

Also in my Opinion, it is more reliable , for instance, if you don't get Fishing boat out, Disciples are not overly fast, and judges have multiple cards that draw and search for drawing cards.

I cut Fishing Boat from my disciples deck. They are plenty fast without it.

Totally agree, Pentecost, reach of desperation, 4DC, Peter, Matthew all produce speed way more effectively then boat.  Plus DD is always a factor to crush boat.

Any Ruth/Judges variant is easily faster when paired with phars.

If you can pull out Gifts I agree but standard speed with out hunting one particular card makes me thinks it's not that fast.  The Ruth stuff is decent but I'm not ready to call it top tier. I know you ran it with some success this year but I didn't see it show up at any major tournaments I attended. I saw it abused it multi a couple times but let's be honest who cares about multi?

Yeah Ruth is faster, but really, that's ALL Ruth is.  If you only want speed (which is why Ruth works in multi), its fine, but most decks still want to actually be able to win a battle or two.

Ruth is ludicrously good as an engine. Ruth doesn't win you battles. It lets you get to your good cards or recur your good cards.
