Title: How Many Disciples?
Post by: lightningninja on October 14, 2011, 11:29:41 PM
How many do you run in a solid Disciples deck? I'm running all the new ones plus Peter. Do you guys run more, less, or perhaps other purple/red heroes?

I've always seen Andrew, James, and John.

Right, James and John, I have those sorry. Why Andrew though? Just for the extra red hero and the extra Disciple?

I run all 11 but I also am running Gardenciples and I have Best friends in my deck. Nothing quite like going in with Andrew, making my opponent think I've got nothing because it's a Gardenciples deck so I couldn;t fit any more in, then playing best friends to band in Susanna + 4 TGT girls. Also Any disciple adds 1 to the X on James the Lesser, Thad, and Boat

The extra Disciple can make an enormous difference with Thad.

CoT is a much better use of Andrew's slot.

Crown of Thorns.  Since it decreases all EC's by 0/3, it's like dropping three more Disciples on the table for Thad.

Oh yeah I have that. It also kills a lot of pesky egyptians for TGT to work with Peter/John. Thanks for the input.

Any other cool techs people have tried with it? Is there a brigade it works really well with, especially OT? I'd like to fit in Valley of Salt...

Unfortunately, Disciples will not blend.  Other than a TGT splash, there's not really many interesting things you can do.

I used to use 13. Dropped it down to 10.

I found Disciples with red, mostly for centurions, to be pretty effective.

Yeah Gabe stole my thunder. If you run 11 disciples with one or both centurions and add David's Triumph and ASP you counter one of the best counters to disciples really easily.

With the new cards would you guys run David's Victory, instead?

I hope you mean Bravery of David. If so, I would say that's probably a better choice nowadays.

I disagree. To use Bravery of Dave other than as a negate, you have to be warrior class. That limits you to just the centurions in an NT deck. Plus, unless you want to use David, it's not CBN against Phillys.

Yeah, I did mean that, thanks.

And I meant that instead of A soldier's prayer, not david's triumph. I like Bravery of David because it discards ANY evil character if used by a wc, not just a male human.

Yes, but if you use Bravery of David, you cannot use it on a Peter, Andrew, or Simon the Zealot except as a negate.

Yeah, it's for sure a trade-off. But a negate is still good, which is why My Lord and My God is still good.

ITB is just about as good IMHO and ML&MG doubles as a battle winner.

I would almost run both if you have the room because if somehow your disciples get shut down you'll have three potential rescue attempts.
