Title: GOOD NEWS!
Post by: lightningninja on September 17, 2011, 11:49:33 PM
Samuel is extremely beatable.  ;D I am happy to say. First of all, he's terrible against any kill yourself cards. Considering the most amazing defense by far is Egyptians, he's really out of his league.

He's going to have a purple hero with him in battle a lot of the time, so he's extremely weak to black. Overwhelmed by Philistines kills all their heroes and cbn if they have a purple hero in battle, and Sisera can play whatever she wants because he's gold.

Meaning the two most popular defenses, black and egyptians, completely shut him down.

Anyways, my :2cents: after playing a tournament today against 3 straight Samuel decks. I held out for 10 turns against a full-out Samuel deck that drew great with a Canaanite defense. My defense is 14 cards. It's doable.  :)

Samuel is extremely beatable. Unless somebody gets a good draw and plays it right. Stop listening to the latest craze.

Lolwut? What Samuel decks were you playing? The only purple hero you really need is King Saul, and you won't be banding to him unless you're desperate. Armorbearer to Ismaiah is where it's at.

Meaning the two most popular defenses, black and egyptians, completely shut him down.
Lolwut? Black isn't popular at all, from what I've seen.

They should be decked right around turn 5, so I'm curious to know how it lasted 10 turns.

Last round, the top table was 2 TGT deck with no new cards in them.

This may as well be spam but today I played Goat with Horn + Goat with Horn enhans x3 to win a battle nuff said. Oh and I also opened 12 Prophets packs to find said Goat with Horn 8)

That one. Him to Armorbearer to the red chain ending in a king. They don't like Sisera+Wrath of Satan/Hunger, turns out.

Really? I thought people still played it, I know people loved Philistines last year. If they use defenses...  ::)

Yeah they were decked. Doesn't mean I can't still stall. Also they don't ALWAYS get the 8+ card chain first turn every game. Especially after a mayhem/grapes where they have to reset a little bit. Or Joseph in Prison.  ;D

Sadly but awesomely, this is completely true.

Whoa, nice. Sisera is legit. Anti-meta has always been legit though.

I haven't seen much of it on the boards, and there was none I saw at the local today.

They don't need to get the 8 card chain. I never did. I still decked insanely fast. Mayhem helps, as it gets the characters they need out, and Grapes doesn't matter too much, since there's enough back up and 3 cards can get/be Samuel, who will get the others rather quickly. Once they're decked, they have 4 Interrupt/CBN battle winners, not to mention Son of God and New Jerusalem. If they can't get five off that, they deserve to lose. Your defense shouldn't be able to keep up with their speed, like most speed decks.

Yes, Samuel is weak...to Black, which is weak to just about everything else. Did you actually win the tournament?

Nope. He lost to the deck that used The Goat with Horn and Goat with a Horn x3.

Admittedly I didnt play Brandon West but I did still slaughter a different Samuel deck in the tourney.

No, I didn't. Because my offense was so lame. Haha Just pointing out the strategies that I found effective at the local against Samuel. Now I have the whole new set (well except for the Ezekiel tin which I don't need right now) so I'll let everyone know if I can legitimately stop Samuel next tourney.

Also, the won who won our tourney was using Genesis/Emperors. Lol

I still dont count that game as a loss the only reason I lost was because I waited one turn too long to go in for a rescue ): The deck its self still preformed amazing vs Ben's deck. I still got 2nd in the tourney anyways.

I predict that the surprise winning decks this year will be Red Warriors.  They finally have all the cards needed to be very threatening (except a WC female hero).  I am truly enjoying my red deck right now.

I know of at least one red WC female (and NT, to boot)

It doesn't matter. It was a total bluff; SomeKittens got the white hero.

Phillies are still decent, but not the level of awesome they used to be.

Samuel decks (at least the kind I run/have seen) include lots of Ahimelek. I would love for you to try blocking with Goliath.

Yeah. People at our tourneys include Ehud just for that. Lol they've used it plenty of times too...

I would be interested to see what all cards were in these Sam decks. A Sam deck that draws out great will end the game in less than 10 turns. Also not sure what this defense is you speak of in Sam decks. Surely you meant they used evil dominants as defense instead of Canaanites. ;)

Ring Wraith TROLLOLOLed with Philies at Nats, don't forget his awesomeness. Albeit not a winning awesomeness, but a second place awesomeness.

Asahel would be a better choice, as he has the double purpose of banding to Ishmaiah.

1. It's a new year, and Phillies pretty bad this year. I'm on the bandwagon Gabe mentioned earlier.
2. To be perfectly honest, I think the deck would have done much better in better hands. I shouldn't have tied the two games with it, and I never should have played it against RDT.
3. I got third.
4. Demons were probably the best part of that defense. Phillies were mainly for early game. Falolen Warrior + Bringing Fear + Wrath came in handy end game, but otherwise demons carried the team.

Is this normal?  I've been thinking the same thing (about my deck) since nats.

Westy is just bad though. I'm like 13-0 against him in the two most recent seasons.

I think a lot of it is playstyle choices. In hindsight, I probably would have done something different in a given situation, and somebody else probably would have made the right decision, but then there's a lot of other choices I made that most people wouldn't that was very helpful. It's impossible to be Gabe perfect.

Westy is just bad though. I'm like 13-0 against him in the two most recent seasons.
At least I don't make mistakes like playing SoG + NJ when Lampstand is active when you know they have SoG + NJ and they're ahead of you and you have a Mayhem in your hand.
Also, who has more RNRS points?  :-*

Irrelevant. Baseball players don't get to build their own team. We get to build our own decks. We're more like managers and coaches than players.
