Title: Choose the Rescuer counters?
Post by: The Schaefer on January 31, 2017, 12:39:38 AM
I guess the title says most of it.

Assuming the Choose the Rescuer card is trying to make you rescue with a Hero that the defending player controls,
Outside of negates are there any anti Choose the Rescuer cards?

Nope, you've gotta take it.

Well I semi figured out 1 option. That's the throne of grace. It's a negate still but it at least is not limited by a specific brigade. Not a great option either.

If your concern is Complainers, use negating heroes like Daniel or FBTN.  Or use HoH and Abigail.  Or use CWD.  (Just remember if you use Cloud heroes, your opponent can use Jericho)

If your concern is Medium at Endor and they have King Saul in play, nothing you can do (other than attack with 2+ heroes).  Or just play one brigade so they can't pick a hero you don't have GEs for   ;)   HSR can help, since Medium won't be able to make you attack with a hero that she's been killing.

If your concern is Dissuading Speech/Lies/Sarah's Jealousy, use FBTN heroes with a Covenant active.  Otherwise, not much you can do about these.

A super Thaddeus also gets around all of these.  Or a Clay hero protected by Watchful Leaders (unless WL is negated by Complainers).

would asahel still be protected? i thought that CtR was a separate ability from withdraw. also, how would john the baptist be protected? Birth foretold?

Wall of protection

Wall would stop the opponent choosing another of your heroes, but not one of theirs.

It seems like there are CtB counters but not CtR. Mostly referencing the enhancement's lies/Dissuading Speech/Sarah's Jealousy since they can nearly assure that the opponent is left with a character with no enhancement support. As long as your not in a mirror match or something. You don't see CtR too often but considering most decks don't have an answer for it outside of FBTN and a protected Gideon it seems really strong. Probably underplayed strong.

The difficulty of using CTR is many GEs have multiple brigades, as do many heroes, so its much more difficult to ensure you've smacked them.

True. But with all the cards that let you look at an opponents hand it's easier to know if it will work. CtR is probably better in T2 than T1 but still has some merit.
