Most of you know what's going on in the NFL with the Lockout and all. What are your thoughts on the situation?

From what they are showing it looks more like a neglect from the owners. They knew this would happen and tried to call the bluff. But if NFL does not exist next year I will be beyond mad.

I like to look at the bright side. If there is no NFL this year then maybe Brees escapes the Madden curse.

because it is millionaires and billionaires crying about money. I understand that there are real issues involved like a salary cap for rookies and revenue sharing for tv contracts, but in reality, it is ridiculous. The players have little if anything in common with the "average fan" and the owners have even less. I have no sympaty for either side

did you all see where the player's association is trying to get the top draft picks to boycott the draft and not show up? "Umm... sure, even though I will not officially be associated with the players union, I will forefit my opportunity of a lifetime just so we show the owners who is boss." I think that it is ridiculous of the players to ask them.

The strike back in the 90's was what killed my love for pro baseball...

until the homerun derby of McGwire vs. Sosa brought me back...

until the steroids of everyone killed it again...

If the NFL does a strike, it will probably kill my love for pro football as well.

Let them not play. Using Madden 11,I did a fantasy draft for all 32 teams. Kinda interesting who ended up where. On another note,didn't they have a strike back in '83 or '88. Seems like the season was only 8 or 9 games. Maybe then the Cowboys could get in the Super Bowl or the Lions would win it

All in all-don't worry about it. It is just another sign of what is coming up ahead.

That's what the movie The Replacements refers to - the use of replacement players instead of the pros (affectionately called scabs) like the NFL did during the last strike.

Anyone else remember "He Hate Me."

Did the XFL start because of a strike? I just thought that Vince Mcmahon wanted to make a more hardcore football league to fill in when the NFL was in offseason. I actually liked the XFL. The sprint at the beginning of the game instead of the coin toss was awesome. It was also nice to see football being played more manly. I mean it wouldn't surprise me if the NFL put red jerseys on all QBs so you couldn't ever hit them.

No, you guys are right. "He Hate Me" was an XFL guy. I thought he was one of the replacement players. I know there were some replacement players from the strike that were kept the next season, but most of them went back to wherever they came from.

Interesting factoid:
Saints headcoach Sean Payton was a replacement QB for the Bears during the strike in 1987. His brief career ended with a loss to the Saints in the final replacement game.

I agree with pope, it's all about money.The $9 billion they are trying to split should go to a much more needed cause.

Not being physically present for the draft has absolutely no effect on getting drafted......Every year there are people who go in the first round that aren't there, and the lower picks are never there. The only difference in makes is in TV ratings, who is going to watch the draft if no one is there? It would have been a brilliant move for none of them to show up and it would have hurt no one but the league.

This whole thing is just stupid, it's basically just everyone being greedy. I have no sympathy for the poor veteran who makes "only" 1.7 million because he's old. Oh, and the [bologna] about the NFL should pay for retired players healthcare, what did you do with the millions you made in your career? You make more money per month then my family makes in ten years, yet we can still afford health care. I'm terribly sorry you blew you last dollar on your 7th mansion or your 120th ferrari instead of planning for the future. Oh, wait, no i'm not. Grow up and learn how to save. Put one years salary in a savings account and you're set for life bro.
