HOLY COW! Steve, did you see that??!!

Last night was the greatest night of baseball since Kirk Gibson's homer!!  WOW!!

RSN can now add Robert flippin' Andino to the list that includes Aaron flippin' Boone and Bucky flippin' Dent, lol!

Al Michaels: "Do you believe in miracles?  YES!"  The 2011 Rays!

That wily old LaRussa got the Cards in AGAIN...even though they led the league in blown saves!

The Braves found out that as good as youth is (Kimbrel), a veteran might have gotten them into the playoffs.

So...GO Phils, GO Brewers, GO Diamondbacks, GO Cards, GO Rangers, GO Rays, and GO Tigers!!

That's right!  The Yanks can go take a flying leap!  LOL!!

http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/7033428/breakdown-wednesday-games <- This

Boston (up 9 games on Tampa in the AL WC on Sept. 2) and Atlanta (up 8.5 games on St. Louis in the NL WC on Sept. 6) completed the 2 worst collapses in baseball history (Atlanta's tied the previous worst, but still).

One thing missing from that list is the count - the 9th inning game tying HR for Tampa came with 2 strikes and 2 outs (to complete a comeback from down 7-0), as did a couple of the hits in Baltimore's 2 run 9th to beat Boston.

As a Ranger fan, I missed most of the early action watching their game, where Texas got a 2 run 9th inning HR to wrap up the #2 seed in the AL.  But I got to see most of the drama in the end, which was still incredible.

And Milwaukie sent out Greinke to make sure they got homefield, too, rather than save him for game #1.  The Brew Crew had the best homefield advantage of all the playoff teams this year.

Just a great day of baseball.  Historical day!  :)

Well not great for everyone....  ;)

FTR, I saw it coming, so it was not as heart-wrenching as it could have been. There were just too many similarities to the Red Sox's 1978 collapse. The only surprise was that we did not have to endure the one-game playoff like in '78. That was where Bucky Dent earned his "nickname."

1978 was much more devastating to be honest. We were the best team and we were healthy. This year the Sox were decimated with injuries, so we would not have lasted long in the playoffs anyway.

I have to tip my hat to the Rays, though. They played like a playoff team to end the year, so they deserve to be there. If the Red Sox had made it, we would have "backed" in to the playoffs, so it's not the same.

How 'bout that team in MN that isn't statistically the worst if you count both leagues? Top percentage.
