Yeah, he's loved, I also love Matt Leinart, I also do not want Matt Leinart on the Bills because he's not good. Tebow is beloved for his accolades in college, not the pros.

It's much different than what you feel. You don't understand because you are not from around here. These fans are maniacal, like teenage girls in love with Justin Beiber, except these are adults -  really scary, I know.  :o

He was a better quarterback than Tebow, that's why he beat out Tebow for the starting job.

This is still shortsighted. Leak was a senior and already a proven starter. Tebow was a freshman. There was a battle for starting position that whole season, and Tebow came in quite a lot for a freshman who was backing up an excellent QB, especially with the Gators' tough schedule that year. Urban Meyer brought in that freshman during some of the most critical parts of those games, so I still think you are not seeing the whole picture. A good coach is not going to supplant a senior 4-year starter with a freshman, especially if he wants to win a National Championship.

Also note that Tebow broke all the passing records that Leak set for the Gators. Add in all the rushing records, and Tebow's name dominates the Gators offensive record books (as well as many National records).

Where's his chance that the world supposedly owes him because he won a national title in college?

Leak should have been drafted, but he wasn't. What I admire about Leak is that he still pushed and made an NFL roster. It didn't stick, but he kept pushing. He ended up in the defunct Florida league, the CFL, and even Arena League. Not being drafted by the NFL may seem like racism to some, but since Leak did not find much success at any level other than college, it is possible that the scouts saw something else that affected their draft decision.

However, I noted that you mention the National Championship, as if that is the only reason the Florida Faithful love Tebow. You are still not understanding that the adoration for Tebow is much bigger than on-the-field accomplishments for the Gators.

your assumption that no other fan base is capable of loving their players the way that yours does is blatant homerism. All fanbases have rabid fans. And, as I said before, it's really easy to root for a former college player to succeed when he's not on your favorite team and you don't care about the consequences of an inferior player starting. I would also love Tim Tebow to have been the starter for the Patriots, that would have made my day for very different reasons.

You seem to have missed that I am not a Gators fan. I can't stand Florida teams. I moved here for Disney, not the Gators.

All fanbases have rabid fans.

I have been around "rabid" fans my whole life. Living in the midst of the Red Sox-Yankees rivalry is no picnic. My mom still buys me Patriots and Red Sox memorabilia for my birthday (I'm 44!), just to make sure I keep my loyalties.

What's happening around here, in regards to Tebow, is somewhat surreal. I am only reporting what I see. I am not, and will not be a Gators fan, no matter how long I end up living in Florida. I admire Tebow for his religious convictions and his ability to win with subpar throwing skills. However, I will also admit that I am disappointed he was not willing to change positions. This seems a bit arrogant, which may be his downfall. If he truly wants a starting QB job, then he needs to go to the CFL, like Chris Leak and Doug Flutie before him.

And, as I said before, it's really easy to root for a former college player to succeed when he's not on your favorite team and you don't care about the consequences of an inferior player starting.

You seem to have missed that I am a Patriots fan that was adamant the Patriots sign Doug Flutie, and was ecstatic when they finally did, even though he did not accomplish a whole lot as a Patriot. I, like my family and thousands of other New England fans, were just giddy to have Flutie on the team since he was a New England legend out of college.

I would also love Tim Tebow to have been the starter for the Patriots, that would have made my day for very different reasons.

He never had a chance to be starting QB for the Patriots, but I would have loved to see him switch positions. There is no doubt that he can pull off a ten-yard run in desperate situations. I just would not have wanted to see him as a drop-back passer in a Patriots uniform.  ;)

Race came up whenever people care so much about Tebow but don't care at all about countless proven winners who are unconventional QBs who are black. Wait a few years and what what happens with Braxton Miller and Jonny Manziel. I don't know much about how scouts translate them to the NFL but I bet Manziel not making the NFL would matter way more, even if miller wins the Heisman this year.

Those are just generalizations for shock effect. The real problem in the NFL is the lack of Offensive Coordinators who know how to run the type of offense that uses unconventional QBs. This leads teams to not draft unconventional QBs. A team has to be willing to draft those QBs and hire an OC that can utilize them. The NFL needs to be willing to do more hiring of younger OCs that are used to read-option, instead of old guys who also coached Fran Tarkenton.  ;)

I think this shift is starting to happen, though. RG3, Russell Wilson and Cam Newton are prime examples.

As far as Manziel, I'm not so sure he will be an NFL success. He is the big man now, but he has a long way to go. If he had been eligible for the NFL Draft last year, he certainly would have been a first-rounder. But he reminds me so much of Tebow on the field, even though he is Tebow's Bizarro off the field.

RG3 Wilson and all the other read option QB's are a fad. Just like the wildcat defensive coordinators will figure it out and drop back passers will rule the league again.

With the ruling that the QB is just an Offensive player if the Read Option is run all you have to do is have your biggest meanest defender plaster the QB every time they run the Read Option and it will stop. Especially if you start blasting the QB low.

Drop back passers are the best asset in the league and luck will be the best QB from last years class of QB's when it is all said and done.

It's not a lack of Offensive coordinator ability that limits tebow that's an excuse tebow a talent and throwing motion limit tebow period.

Why should I try to create a gimmick offense for one player they may or may not work if I can take a player and plug him into a proven system and get results? It's basic probability and statistics combined with basic logic that says tebow can't get the job done as an NFL QB

I wasn't talking about Tebow when I mentioned the OCs. I was talking about why NFL teams have not traditionally drafted unconventional QBs. The read-option is just an example.

Despite there being only 32 such positions in the entire league, you may have noticed that there is a bit of a shortage of QBs who actually "get results."  :P

The Broncos "Lucked" out when the Colts decided to let Peyton go but having a proven QB like that fall in your lap rarely happens. Ergo, once in awhile a team will need to use a "gimmick" offense with an unconventional QB if they want a chance to win, like the 2011 Broncos or the Dolphins using the Wildcat a few years back.  :) I think stuff like that keeps the game fresh and exciting.
