Quote
Type: Fortress • Brigade: Multicolor • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: If your human Evil Character captures a Hero, place it here. When opponent makes a successful rescue attempt or battle challenge, instead of surrendering a Lost Soul, release all Heroes from here back to owner. Does not count as redeemed soul. Play As: If your human Evil Character captures a Hero, place it here. When opponent makes a successful rescue attempt or battle challenge, instead of surrendering a Lost Soul, release all captured Heroes from here back to owner. Do I have to put the captured heroes in this fortress or can I choose?

Correct. The only way you would get to choose is if it said may.

I would assume from the reading on RC that you also would have to put an EC GC there that was supposed to be captured and put in your opponent's territory (ie. Night Raid).  That would be a bummer, so I'm hoping that I'm wrong.  Thoughts?

Any Hero you capture, regardless of its destination otherwise, is placed in Raider's Camp.

Just to clarify, (and I'm sure you mistyped), only heroes go in raiders camp, not ECs. Also, Night Raid only captures heroes.

That's what I thought, but a guy can wish can't he?

I'd like to argue for a play as that adds a "may" since RC is designed to help you and not to harm you, but that would be totally arguing to change a card purely to make it more fun.  Since I would have to argue against myself based on my typical priorities of consistency, I guess I'll have to just leave the whole thing alone.  Oh well, it would've been nice :)

Night Raid - If Elisha is not in play, capture a Hero and put in opponent's Land of Bond.age

The way I figure, you get a free "block" every time you stick a character in RC, so it's almost always more beneficial to use it.

Alternately, play Night Raid on a demon.  Problem solved.

Agreed, but sometimes it is more important to have a LS to save than to have a "free" block.  And I suspect that most people who play grey defense are using Emperors or Syrians neither of which would have a lot of demons :)

Of course if I could pencil in the word "Snare" next to "Night Raid", then maybe....

or Lying Spirit, one of my perennial favorites.  A defense does not have to be one color or even one culture.  But if we're talking about Emperors, you now have Terrifying Beast which can use Night Raid and also cards that restrict to Romans (such as the Fort nuker).

Yeah, there are definitely possibilities there.  I was really just messing around with some wishful thinking :)
