Title: when you cannot play a dom from hand
Post by: Cpt.Jaeger on September 24, 2010, 09:58:30 AM
it's my understanding that when a person plays demonic mist or blocks with king menaham (spelled bad), that the person whose hand is being randomly discarded from cannot quick play dominants for fear of losing them. If this is true, does it apply to all special abilities? Meaning, does the special ability of the last card played have to be completed before someone has another chance to play a dominant?

ex.
player a: goes for a rescue attempt with gabriel (wa), but opponent has JT up
player b: blocks with gomer (wo) and does not band.
player b: plays dream to draw three cards and play next enhancement.
---- at this point can player a play a dominant?
player b: draws his three cards, and plays thievery of Judas
player a: only has/had only SoG in his hand, and does not have any artifacts in his deck

if needed i will post all the card descriptions

second question- if you steal SoG by lucky chance with Thievery of Judas, can you play 2 SoG in one game?

Dominants do not interrupt anything, so no, you can't play a dominant in the middle of a special ability.

If your opponent gives you a second SoG, I don't see why you can't play it.

Great, now we can cut offense down to two for-sure rescues with Heroes. Defense-heavy FTW.

actually that was kind of my thought. if your defense in pale green and crimson and you keep playing hand discards, then you add the hand discard LS.... could be done... maybe ;)

If your opponent's hand has 4, 7, or 10 cards, play the correct number of Words of Discouragement, then Cleptomania.

When your opponent just got you down to one card in your hand and he is using a crimson character (or can use crimson enhancements), I'm not going to hold onto that SOG.

So you need to add Arrogance in there.

Words of Discouragement has a "play next," so you can chain a word or two (them thinking you're attempting SitC and holding on to Doms as long as possible) and then steal the dom they were holding.

Oh, I didn't realize they could play next... nevermind ::)

Aww, I was hoping the Theavery/SoG combo would stay unnoticed until I could pull it off at a Tournament.  I built it into a silver/blue Genesis and gray/crimson NT deck that has managed the combo twice in for-fun games.  The caveat about artifacts, along with my opponents usually realizing my plan and using SoG early makes this quite difficult to pull off, but Brandan Abbott came up with a nice solution for the artifacts I am going to try tomorrow.

Can't wait until I have enough copes for T2 MP.  Assuming the Teams limit or playing one of each artifact isn't added to the other categories before then...

Turned out several people already knew the combo today, including Bryon.  He said it was completely legal to play both copies of Son of God.

Would you say his advice was angelic by chance?  ::)

Follow up question...if you steal New Jerusalem can you play both copies of NJ with your SoG?

Unless there is a rule against playing multiple dominants of the same kind then yes you can play your opponents NJ with your SOG/NJ

I think this works, too.

Heck yes, now all I gotta do is put a for-sure battle winner in, and then wait to steal my opponent's SOG + NJ. Laziness ftw.
