If my opponent has placed Set Fire in my territory, and I discard my only site or OT fortress that I have left on my turn, is Set Fire immediately discarded, or does it have to wait until the following turn to do a check and then get discarded? Also, if my only site gets discarded by some other means, is Set Fire discarded even if it's not during my upkeep phase?
Thanks!
Set Fire (Pi)
Type: Evil Enh. • Brigade: Crimson • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Place in a player’s territory. Each upkeep, that player must discard a single-color Site or O.T. Fortress from his territory or set-aside area. When none of those remain, discard this card. • Identifiers: None • Verse: II Kings 25:9 • Availability: Priests booster packs (Rare)

Set fire' ability only activates during your upkeep phase. If it does discard your final site/fortress, you will have to wait until your next upkeep phase before it discards itself.

I disagree. Placed enhancements are always active, but Set Fire's Fortress/Site discard ability only triggers during upkeep. It's self discard is a separate ability that triggers whenever the condition is met. So Set Fire would be discarded as soon as the last Site/OT Fortress is discarded.

That's how I always play it. If I have one ot fort and on my next turn i discard it, set fire would be too.

How can there be a fire when there's nothing to burn anyway? ::)

Railguns.

Or the embers need a full turn to die out ;)

I could see the last sentence being tied to the preceding sentence.

I say the second ability is a triggered ability that activates when the condition is met. As soon as the last site/fortress is discarded the trigger activates.

I agree with the "other Prof". Set Fire's 1st ability makes you discard. Then the 2nd ability checks to see if anything is left. If your discard got rid of the last site/OT fort, then the 2nd ability won't find anything there, and Set Fire will be discarded.
-
I see it more as:
At upkeep phase, check opponent's territory.
-If there is an OT fort or site,
-Then discard a site or OT fort
-Else discard set fire.

I agree with both Profs

Guess I just got corrected (at least no one used a rod to correct me :P)

That would be a great way to see it if it was what the card actually said.
