Can you clarify your weapons question?  Are the two characters on the same side of the battle? Is it a hero or an EC holding the weapon?  What order did they go into battle?

2 heroes in battle, one holding the weapon, that hero is discarded, what happens to the weapon?  same situation, but the weapon hero is forced to withdraw, what happens to the weapon?

The specific instance here was this: Tribal Elder-Helez (holding Helmet of Brass)-Abiezer.  Opponent blocked with Controlling Demon, so Helez and Abiezer were sent back to territory.  The question is, does this cause Helmet of Brass to stay in battle, or does it go back with Helez?

Was it placed prior to battle or during?

My understanding (fwiw):
Is that if it is placed prior to battle then it returns with the hero that it was placed on.
if it was placed that battle, then it has the option of staying in battle like any other enhancement.

It was placed prior to battle.  That was my understanding as well, but there was some discussion about weapon class enhancements becoming regular enhancements once they entered battle (?) or something like that, so there's been some confusion on how to handle them in situations like this.  One argument that we had for placed weapons staying with the character holding them is Adino, whose ability is only relevant if he's holding a spear.  If weapons "detach", so to speak, when they enter battle, then his ability would be useless since the only time he would be holding a spear is when he is outside of battle, when the ability can't activiate.  As soon as he enters battle, his ability activates, but if the weapon "detached", he would no longer be holding it, so his ability would fizzle.  Unless "holding" simply means "a spear Adino can use is on his side of the battle" or something like that.

My understanding is that weapons are treated like every other enhancement during battle - meaning enhancements played on one hero that is removed from battle hang around in battle when another hero is left in battle who can play it. If no hero remaining in battle can play the enhancement it is immediately discarded.

The place function of weapons only comes into play outside of battle and at the end of a battle where you may choose one weapon from battle to stick on a character for next time.

So you're saying that if I attack with Asahel with Warrior's Spear and band to Abishai and my opponent blocks with Herod the Great and returns Asahel I couldn't choose to keep Warrior's Spear on Asahel to go back with him? Would it be different if I banded to Ira, a non-red hero?

I believe the weapon would switch on the first example and be discarded in the second. I believe this based on the new revelation concerning how weapons don't follow holder in battle.
