Alright, so previously I thought the rule for having a Unique character in play was that you cold only have one of each, and that their same character-ness was determined by one of the following scenarios...
Same Name + Same Art + Unique = Same Card (EG: Warrior's Ira, and King's Ira)
Same Name + Same Brigade + Unique = Same Card (EG: King's Michael, and Angel Wars' Michael)
So what's the ruling now, as at least two cards from the new set break this rule (King Asa and Martha). Can you have both versions of these cards in play, Did I just have the ruling wrong, or did a rule change and I missed it?
-
They changed the ruling a while back I believe it only matters about the title now?
-
Then what about the two "Salome"s?
-
If only there were some place that had all sorts of rules all together, perhaps in book form. Oh wait! There is one.
"Unique characters with special abilities that have the same name and brigade are limited to a maximum of 1 each per 50 cards in a deck. For example, you can have one David (green brigade) and one David (red brigade) but not two David cards in the green brigade (even if their special abilities vary) in a deck that is smaller than 100 cards.
Generic characters with special abilities that have the same name and card art are limited to a maximum of 1 each per 50 cards in a deck. If the card art is different, you may select a maximum of 1 each per 50 cards in a deck from each variant. For example, you can have one of each of the black brigade Sadducees (4 Variants) cards in a deck that is smaller than 100 cards, provided they each have different card art."
Also, the REG, under Duplicate Cards:
"No player may control duplicates of a unique character or cause them to fight each other. This includes unique characters in play, in battle, in a side battle, face down, or in a set-aside area. Character cards with the same card title and the same art or with the same title and the same brigade are considered duplicates for deck building purposes. A player may have only control one of these at any time. The only exception to this rule is non-unique characters with different card art."

Title and respresentation of the same person. Asa uses the same verse, where as the Salome's don't.
-
Then what about the two "Salome"s?
Fill me in on the "two Salomes" thing, since I must have missed something. I'm sure we can figure out any ruling discrepancies so that the consistency remains.
-
There has been two Salome's ever since she of Garden Tomb fame came out, it's just that now there's an evil Salome (daughter of Herodias, formerly a Crimson 6/6 from the Unlimited set) that people might actually use.
This has already been an "issue" with having two different characters named Simeon. I'm sure that the uniqueness issue will be settled in the next REG.
-
Yea, I shouldn't be online when I'm half asleep and high on caffiene.
Thank you muchly for the REG quote, Tim, I dunno why I couldn't find it when I was looking.
-
Uh, sometimes you can also use common sense about uniqueness. I think we all know and would rather look for loopholes in the REG. The REG gives simple guidelnes and we all keep looking for detailed rules.
It is my guess that we'll never get the REG definition perfect for every card AND understandable. But, try we do.
