Title: turn phase question

1. Just wondering can a player discard cards from their hand (during discard phase) and still go for a rescue attempt on their same turn?

  or once a player decides to go to the discard phase they can no longer go for a BC or RA?

Once you start discarding, you are in the Discard Phase, which is after the Battle Phase, so no they cannot start a battle.
